I received a recall letter back in the summer 2014 for faulty ignition switch. Called dealer, parts not available. Called several more times since, still no parts and told to wait for letter. Well, it is now Feb. 2015 and still no parts/letter. It states that ignition switch can turn from start to run, which will shut down engine or other electrical parts ( steering, engine, power brakes ) increasing the risk of crash. Do I have to wait till I crash before this is taken care of ?

While on the freeway my Jeep's electrical system shut off. As a result of the system failure, my steering was lost and the vehicle started to loose acceleration. While in motion the vehicle was heading into a turn on the freeway. I was able to steer the car in order to avoid a wall but I was forced to drive off the road. When the vehicle came to a stop I was able to restart the vehicle after three attempts.

Jan 112014

Grand Cherokee

  • 80,189 miles
This vehicle has been to the dealer and corporate has been notified. The situation starts when the weather is below freezing or snowing then turns to rain. The sunroof drain does not work properly causing water to pour out of the center ceiling map lights, the garage door control panel, the driver side column, and the handle to get into the vehicle. This causes a major distraction while driving and also can cause severe electrical damage, water damage to the interior and mold/mildew build up.. corporate claims they know nothing about this situation however currently there is a class action lawsuit vs Chrysler corporation regarding this issue with many different models with the same issue. This situation only occurs during the extreme cold weather change and precipitation. The dealer and Jeep have no answer to rectify this problem.
