problem #1

Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L

About three times since we bought our gc it has made a horrendous noise that all of the sudden sounds like a diesel engine with a knocking underneath like a broken exhaust mount. Then just as fast as it happens it goes away. It happened twice when I mashed the accelerator and once just driving through town. The first time we had it towed 50 miles to the nearest dealer and they said they found nothing wrong with it, we don't have a dealer close to us anymore so the problem would go away as soon as we would try to drive it to a dealer. I'm starting to think that there is a defect in the catalytic converter or the muffler system since ther is never a dash light that indicates the problem. When it happens it sounds like it's ready to blow-up.

This is our fifth gc and it's just a shame that a $46,000 vehicle would have this odd thing going on. My wife and decided that if they never discover the problem we will be forced to trade it in before the ( extended ) warranty runs out. One of the fun things about the vehicle is the power, but we're afraid to really get into it because we don't no if we'll be stranded somewhere as we travel alot. HELP!!!
