Grand Cherokee 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,636 miles

I love Jeeps, this 2011 Grand Cherokee is my 3rd one. Never did I have a transmission problem up until August 23rd. Brought my car to be fixed (rebuilt transmission) to my cousin who owns a body shop and where I take my car to get repaired all the time. It took them almost 5 weeks, got my car back Sept 30th... it cost me $4,600.00 to get repaired. Luckily I don't need a car to go to work, but it was awful not having my car to go here and there, had my sister as my taxi driver. I certainly would like to buy a new Jeep soon and I strongly pursue the issue that I should get some money back in what I paid for the repair of a rebuilt transmission. My Jeep has only 126,553 kilometers and the transmission shouldn't have gone on me with my kilometers and only 8 years old.

Waiting for a response, email me on lmichelucci57@gmail.com but I always use lmichelucci@hotmail.com

Thx, Lina.

Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,478 miles

There have been 4 problems repaired on this transmission thus far and the original problem still has not been fixed. For such an awesome vehicle they should have purchased a transmission that they didn't make because they clearly have no idea how to make one. When repaired I'm selling it for a cheap used Wrangler Rubicon. Transmission is trash!!!!!!!!!

Grand Cherokee Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,351 miles

My car has been at the dealers since 8th November 2016 whilst they try and sort out the issue. driving home one night and a terrible grinding noise came from underneath, car limped into parking spot but not happy to be driven forward. The dealer has had it ever since. Following Jeeps recommendations the transfer case was machined, then replaced (or maybe transfer motor was replaced) and it still is not fixed. I think the dealer is not really telling me what was going on, but they did say it was a known issue and Jeep MAY cover some of the cost. Pretty bad because I did take out extended warranty, however after they had already had it a month, they say the warranty only covers the first $1000! I would just like to know if anyone knows what the issue is and does it really take all this time to fix???

Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

The transmission does not have a 2nd gear. It is a 6 speed automatic with the capability of manually shifting. Coming off the highway and downshifting when the RPMs reach 1500, from 6th to 5th to 4th to 3rd there is a 800 to 1000 RMP jump. Shifting from 3rd to 2nd and the tach hovers (up and down) about 100 RPMs. It actually feels as though you are free wheeling (like holding down the clutch in a manual transmission)

I brought the Jeep into Herb Chambers Jeep in Danvers, MA. The service man who worked on the car couldn't see the issue. I spoke with the Service Manager and he took a ride with me. I showed him the problem a number of times. He even told me to drive at a certain RPM and he shifted. Each and every time same "no response" in 2nd. We then took out a similar Grand Cherokee from the lot and did the same test. Each time, going from 3rd to 2nd the RPMs jumped 900 - 1000 RPMs.

He started telling me it could be a difference in transmission models, then he said it could be the tire size (I laughed at him for that one). He finally agreed that there was a problem and he would have to look into what he would have to order so that I could bring it in for repair.

That was Dec 8, 2015. Today (Jan 20, 2016, he wants me to meet with some traveling service troubleshooter. I have the feeling a "run around" is about to start. I will be recording everything from this point forward.

Grand Cherokee Overland V8 Hemi 5.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

When started and shifted into "D" drive mode, car would self engage in manual gear "4" and then had no traction or acceleration, only reverse. Transmission completely died and would automatically go into manual "4" gear itself when put into "D" drive mode from park or while driving on the road. Very dangerous and very scary.

Had it towed to dealer who wanted $1,300 to repair faulty TIPM Module and would not cover under power train warranty. Called Chrysler and negotiated it down to $100. This should be a recall and is very dangerous because the car is putting itself into the wrong gear and would not accelerate or move in drive mode.

Grand Cherokee Overland

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Brought this car in several times, the transmission seems like it doesn't want to shift, then it shifts into low gear when accelerating by itself. Almost got in several accidents. Brought into dealer and they said since its not doing it now they can't fix it.

transmission sticks on 2nd gear

don't buy a Jeep please. i thought chrysler had fixed the chronic issues with Jeeps with this total overhaul but NOT. Now I'm at the end of my warranty and considering trading for a Ford.
