Grand Cherokee Larado 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

Purchased vehicle last year with new tires at 37000 mi. Put 8000 mi. on since. Decided rear brakes and drums needed to be changed. I pulled the wheels for the first time since I purchased and found the rear axle shaft seriously deteriorated ( no threads left on shaft and nut also in poor shape) Everything else at hub looks good with no rust . I have never seen an axle exposed axle end show any signs like this. I am going to my Jeep dealer to see what they are going to do if anything. I think they should, as I think this poses a safety issue , because the wheel may separate from the axle. No other part of the drivetrain shows any rust.
