When shift into park, vehicle does not go into park. Stays in reverse and moves when let off the break. Have had problems with this since the shift mechanism recall 'fix' was done (1016?) but it is now getting worse...is now every time I drive it.

On 7.25.20 my husband and I were driving down interstate 29 at 80 mph and the driver side headrest exploded forward with great force and hit my husband in the back of the head. Luckily he was able to keep control of the vehicle so we didn't crash, however now he is dealing with neck/shoulder pain. He had to remove the headrest so we could continue to drive it, there is a wire attached to the 1 side so that had to be snipped to remove headrest. Now my service airbag system light is on, I'm surprised the [xxx] thing even starts and runs. Now I feel like we need to remove passenger headrest completely to prevent another injury. This is ridiculous, I paid alot of money for this Jeep and have had numerous major issues that are expensive to fix. Consumer stated husband sustained neck/shoulder pain for a few days but is fine now. While driving on the highway and going over 50 mph the check engine light comes on and the speed/power is cut off and drops. If im going 70mph the and it happens, the check engine light pops on, dings, and the instantly drops speed to about 55mph and does not let me accelerate. I have to pull over and turn the Jeep off then back on and it allows me to go. This happens randomly and at different speeds. Also the check engine light has just gone away on its own before within hours of it happening. Some sensors were replaced but the issue keeps happening.

The passenger side headrest deployed without cause. I was stopped at a stop sign on a city street and it just deployed. There were no other cars around and thankfully, no one occupied the seat.

Headrest deployed due to failure of the plastic retainer. The vehicle was parked, this is the second headrest to deploy, the passenger side headrest deployed a few months ago, the vehicle was not involved a crash or any contact. I saved the small pieces of plastic that crumbled.

We have been having trouble with the shifter. Quite often when we push it into park it doesn't go to park. It either stays in drive or goes to neutral. So when we think the car is in park it continues to move. It is hard to get it in the desired gear like if the computer is T reading G it. We often have to try multiple times before it goes in the desired gear. We have noticed this primarily when parking, the other day we had to act quickly because the car went forward and hit a low wall, as we were parking at home.

A/C works intermittently. Jim click Chrysler/Jeep charged me $116 diagnostic fee abd said updates needed to be made. I got my vehicle back and immediately my A/C was not working again. I returned my car to them and this time they claimed the same problem was an actuator for $318.99. Once again; I got my car back and A/C is still working intermittently. They obviously don't know how to diagnose the problem. From an internet search, I've found others who have the same issue with Jeep a Grand Cherokee. I believe this is a defect with Jeep vehicles.

I keep getting an error stating service shifter. I took it to a dealership to run diagnostic on it today and they state the whole shifter and knob need to be replaced and I was told this is a common problem for Jeep Grand Cherokee but nothing has been done bout it and they charge $1,100 to fix this problem. I cant afford this now so I paid for diagnostic bill. Everytime I start the Jeep or put it in park I get this service shifter error message and sometimes while driving and the lights on the shifter do not work so I cant tell what position I am currently in.

Vehicle overheated and spewed all coolant. Several dealer visits, replaced egr, manifold, cylinder heads, hoses, thermostat etc. One occasion fuel was dripping into the engine compartment after repair and the engine compartment was smoking. Another occasion the manifold was smoking. It's only a matter of time before one catches fire. These are SUVS used to haul families.

Grand Cherokee

  • 117,000 miles
My 2014 diesel Grand Cherokee has had emissions for the past 3+ years. On 12/9/19 they changed the particulate filter and right after that there was exhaust smells coming through the vents. The dealership attempted to fix this smell in late December and then again in January. They found a cracked valve cover on 1/10/20 and fixed that. I was then driving the car on 1/12/20 and it started on fire and was destroyed. Chrysler investigated the crash and determined that it was not a manufacturing problem

The driver headrest airbag randomly deployed without incident. The vehicle was stationary. Brought to dealership and was informed this was not covered under 100K warranty. Felt this was concerning as potential other headrest airbag may deploy. Additionally asked about the leather pulling up off the dashboard but informed this also was not covered.

Dec 032019

Grand Cherokee

  • 95,000 miles
While using the navigation I am warned of turns or exits ahead with instructions like: "turn right in 1/2 mile" on multiple occasions I have started appropriate lane changes to follow the verbal instructions when I glanced at the map and found I was actually shown to turn in the opposite direction. There is no consistency in this failure and my Jeep dealer stated that unless I demonstrated the problem there was nothing I could do under warranty. As of this date I have suffered one near miss and have had to shut off voice notices to avoid this problem with the resultant need to look at the map and not keep my eyes on the road. I believe this is a software problem and is probably occurring on other Jeep.and may have caused accidents and injuries.
