- The Diesel Engine failed or malfunctioned. New/current engine is available for inspection but no longer have dead engine. Was removed by Jeep dealership. - I Was driving with my kids and as I was about to park in the lot, thick black smoke started coming from the hood of my jeep. My kids started screaming and I immediately turned off the vehicle and got my kids out, because I wasn't sure if it was going to blow up or what would happen. Called USAA to tow vehicle to dealership. - Problem was confirmed by the dealer - I have never got my vehicle serviced by anyone else besides the dealer/manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Temecula) - the vehicle and component was inspected by the manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat) - There was absolutely NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS OR SIGNES THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN prior to the failure. Th cylinder has low compression causing misfire in the vehicle. The misfire can cause the vehicle to lose power. If you lose power on a highway it could cause an accident. This has not happened to me, but I have read the cyinder issue is a common problem with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee Seems like bad parts. A mechanic has ascertained the problem with my vehicle. If this is a common problem why has the manufacturer not fixed the problem and inspected these parts?

Driving on highway 290 West near Waller. At 75mph I attempted to pass slower traffic by accelerating after moving into the farthest left (passing) lane when my Jeep lost power. Had to maneuver while coasting between traffic in lanes (frogger anyone?) to farthest right lane by coasting through to an exit by chance. Would not restart while coasting. Traffic line formed behind me for those also seeking same exit I needed at the last second. I was unable to fully move into shoulder because of debris seen and fear of damage to tires. After coasting to a full stop a quarter mile from Love's Truckstop, put vehicle in park, and was able to restart after hesitation. Engine light on with my reader stating "confirmed" codes P0336, U1401; and a "pending" code of P05ED. Now takes 3-5 seconds to start when used to be "instantly." In a nutshell, this was not fun. :| Note to manufacturer, please stop skimping out on quality.

The car will shift into neutral and become undrivable. Had car towed and they say the part is a transmission control module/valve body #R8259301AC. They say this is a common problem for this model and have had many complaints of same issue. It has been 3 months and the part is not available. This seems to be a very serious and common safety issue.

I was driving in the high and when I went to accelerate the vehicle went into -??limp-?? mode. I made it to the closest dealership to get checked. The dealership explained to me the tone wheel delaminated and that is the reason my check engine light came on. The codes read camshaft position sensor issue, but the dealership said it is because of the delaminated tone wheel

Loud ticking noise from engine that speeds up upon acceleration. Failing rocker arm causing debris leading to ticking noise. No error codes. Upon personal investigation online, have found "Pentastar Tick" to be a known problem in 2013-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees on Jeep forums. Problem can lead to misfire while driving, including jerking, damage to cam shaft, as well as engine damage.

I-??ve recently noticed when leaving my driveway my 2015 jeep grand Cherokee shifts hard / feels as if the transmission is slipping. Today out of now where my vehicle starts slowing down and the rpm is getting higher. I luckily was able to get to the side of the highway to pull over with 3 children in the car. I cut the vehicle off opened and closed the door cranked it and it drove as normal until I was a couple of miles away from home when this happened again. I could not go over 40 mph and the vehicle wasn-??t shifting it just sounded like it was reving up. I-??ve also been smelling a burning smell inside of the vehicle that smelled like burnt rubber / burning wires. The smell is worse when cutting on the seat warmers. When putting the vehicle in park it sometimes takes a few seconds before the vehicle realizes it-??s in park. My headlights at night also appear to look like they are smoking or has a certain smell to them when you get up close

The transmission fails and defaults to 3rd or 4th gear when downshifting or hitting a pothole. The vehicle then has to limp to a service center for evaluation and repair. At such low speeds during the limp for service, the highway driver is at significant risk or accident
