Was at the car wash vacuuming out my Jeep. I heard a loud pop noise, and my passenger headrest deployed for no reason!!!

Smacked me in the back of the head while driving on the interstate with my family in the vehicle. Everyone was shook. I was dazed momentarily but maintained control of the vehicle.

Grand Cherokee

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Driving on paved road about 40 mph when heard a large crack sound. First thought was someone shot at my car. Thank goodness no one was sitting in the passenger seat because turned out it was the headrest "exploding". When I stopped, found several plastic pieces on the floor and inside the headrest.

My jeep only had 22,000 miles on it when this happened. I am going to dealer tomorrow for maintenance and was going to ask about getting it fixed but after reading several other people's stories I believe I am going to go away mad. If this isn't fixed for free by dealership I will definitely be contacting Jeep complaint office and anywhere else I need to. This is a safety issue and there should be a recall on these defective head rests.
