I saw a similar post about premature tire wear on the Jeep. In my case, the tires in the back I bought brand new at firestone under a year ago. After 18,000 the back right tire was completely bald and the left had tread but bald down the middle. I had to buy new tires, but the technician told me he has seen/heard that the transfer case is causing the issue. I am going to a transmission shop tomorrow to get it checked out. I will say, which is another issue that the Selec Trac has been blinking and not letting me switch into any of the 4 wheel drive options (mud, snow, etc). So, the technician thought this was creating drag on the rear tires. It makes sense to me. I have seen on other message boards that other people are having issues with the Selec Trac and there has not been a good solution mentioned. But, I have seen people thinking it was the transfer case. The firestone guy said he thinks it will be a 3,000 - $4,000 repair job! Yikes! If anyone has experienced this, please let me know. Thanks!

Tires that came with the vehicle are Good Year Futura HL 265, 20 in hubs. These tires, while following dealer recommended tire inflation, rotations, 2 front end alignments, and balancing, wore out in the front at 22,000 mi. Outer corners down to inner liner. These tires are rated at 60,000. Most of the driving was highway. the door panel suggested psi is 36 while the tires are rated at 51 psi max cold. There has GOT to be a discrepancy here in Chrysler's recommended psi. These tires appear to run at this psi as runflats! Never have I seen such a tire and door panel difference such as this. Dealer and area tire stores are saying they go by the door panel. Other mechanics are insisting that is too low. I am pissed that I had to replace the fronts in such a short timeframe. I am going to split the difference in tire pressure and run these at 45 until I need to change out. Never again will I buy these tires for this vehicle.

I've been keeping up on brakes mostly because I saw more wear on the front driver rotor than the others. And because, I found out to late, that the drivers side rotor was made from a lesser material after I replaced them. I replaced all because they're brakes. So I don't screw around. Do you think the dealer would reimburse? Nope.
I'm through my second set of tires. The run-flats by Pirelli were crap. got 20K out of them, made the vehicle handle like an Army Deuce and a half. I'm now on Hankook Ventus. Good tires but now they are wearing on the outside. Some more than others. they have 25K on them. Going to be due for a new set soon. These are 55k tires! I've taken it in to get thrust aligned 5 times and it's changed every time.
The dealer says the suspension is perfect. I can understand a aggressive suspension due to my vehicle, but getting 30-35K less mileage on my tires is expensive and this was an expensive vehicle in every sense. Does anyone have a thought about whats going on with this? I know the suspension is lowered from the factory but why is it causing bad tire wear?? Are they using the same specs as non-SRT?
