Jeep, like Volkswagen, lied about meeting EPA emission requirements on their diesel engines. After they were caught convicted and fined, they tried to meet the requirements by programming and tuning the Eco Diesel engine. But the tuning makes the engine run poorly. One of the weak links in the emission chain is the DPF - Diesel Particulate Filter. It is supposed to burn off the emissions. Instead it gets clogged and has to be taken to the dealer to be manually regenerated.
This is a huge inconvenience for the customer to waste day after day at the dealer for something the car should do automatically. I had my DPF replaced twice. As the bonus to the inconvenience we have to live with the poor performance.
