2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Dash Board Wrinkles, bubbles, delaminating bad. Looks terrible.
- Derrick D., Matthews, NC, US
The leather dashboard on my Jeep Grand Cherokee is bubbling up and looks horrible. It is the worst near the winshield but also has bubbles in the middle of the dash. I have only had the vehicle for 5 years and the bubbling started about a year ago. This has been a common problem in the past and recalls were issued, but there are no current recalls on the 2017 even though the vehicles are having the same exact issue. When I purchase one of the top trim levels, I expect non wear items to last more than five years. When I contacted my local dealership, I was informed that the dashboard was not covered under a recall and that the repair was approximately $2000. I have emailed Jeep directly for a response and am waiting to hear back from them.

I leased a 2017 Grand Cherokee Overland. I was detailing it and noticed the passenger side where it meets the windows curling up, then continued to the drivers side and noticed the same thing. Also where the dash goes over the cluster it is bubbling up, not shaped to the contour of dash. I own a 17 year old Yukon and it does not have any issue with the dash board.
The point is it should never happen on a vehicle that is only 3 years old. I called Jeep which opened a claim and they tried calling the dealer -no answer. I was told they would call me back tomorrow. I was seriously going to lease another or possibly buy another but now I am not so sure. I seriously hope the issue gets rectified before I have to return it in August... I will post pictures tomorrow.

There was a recall on earlier models. Chrysler won't talk to me as there is no recall on my particular VIN. The dealership is worthless.

I've spent hours talking with Jeep and this is an KNOWN issue that is a factory defect. It's been recalled in other models but NEVER FIXED. I'm so infuriated I don't want to ever support them again. I would love to know how others have gotten them to fix this. I don't want to spend thousands on this for it to just happen again.
