The contact owned a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle directly in front stalled inadvertently causing the contact to abruptly depress the brake pedal. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, it failed to function causing the contact to crash with the vehicle in front. The vehicle was occupied by the contact and her son. The air bags deployed causing injury to both arms, right shoulder, and legs to the contact as well as causing her son emotional PTSD. The contact received medical attention via an Emergency Room. The contact stated the front driver-side door as well as the steering wheel were punctured. No injuries were reported for the other driver however their rear driver-side bumper was dented. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
