My 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has experienced multiple incidents involving unexpected braking and vehicle movement inconsistent with my driver inputs.
In late August 2026, while driving, the vehicle suddenly engaged in severe braking without me initiating the braking. I brought the vehicle to the Jeep dealership, where it remained for approximately one week. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem or identify a cause.
On September 5, 2026 at approximately 1:32 p.m., I was completely stopped in a Starbucks drive-thru with my foot on the brake when the vehicle unexpectedly lurched forward. Fortunately, I did not strike the vehicle in front of me. I have also experienced behavior in which the vehicle appears to brake while I am applying the accelerator and move forward while I am applying the brake.
Because these incidents involve braking and unintended vehicle movement, I consider this a serious safety concern. I filed NHTSA Complaint #11759932 and escalated the matter to Stellantis.
Stellantis subsequently arranged an inspection by Engineering Analysis Associates (EAA), a division of Bosch Automotive Service Solutions. The vehicle was inspected and vehicle data was downloaded.
Stellantis later informed me in writing that the inspection found no malfunction involving the throttle, braking, steering, or other factory-installed components and no evidence of a manufacturing defect or recall-related condition. Stellantis then declined further assistance.
However, Stellantis has not provided me with the EAA/Bosch inspection report or the underlying vehicle data, diagnostic results, photographs, or testing information supporting that determination, despite my request for those materials.
The problem remains unresolved. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle because there has been no explanation for why it unexpectedly engaged in severe braking or why it moved forward from a complete stop while my foot was on the brake.
