Liberty

  • 49,000 miles
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty. There are two cylinders under the hood that are supposed to keep the hood open after it is raised. Mine no longer do that. This could present a serious problem as the hood could slam down unto anyone that might be looking under the hood. I luckily avoided getting injured this morning as I was looking under the hood, turned around for a second, and the hood slammed shut, narrowly missing me. There is a similar situation with the back window. Although not as serious, the cylinders on the window are failing as well.

: the contact stated while driving 35 mph on a city street, the engine stalled, and all four doors locked and unlocked without warning. Afterwards, the engine restarted. The vehicle was inspected by an independent repair shop who determined the wheel and speed sensor of the brakes needed to be replaced. Afterward, the problems persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for further inspection who determined there was a rainwater leak along the driver side door and the rear hatch that corroded the electrical wiring harness. The wiring harness was replaced as well as a new rear hatch seal to prevent further leaking. The manufacturer was alerted.
