This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
This SUV costs so much and it's dangerous to drive. When the air conditioner goes out, your vehicle will lock up and stop running. You will most likely get rear ended and catch fire, because there is also a recall for rear end impact collision on this vehicle. The seat belts don't work properly, this vehicle has been a nightmare and Jeep does not stand behind their product/ Your on your own with this lemon.

This car has been nothing but problems. The car started stalling while driving, sputtering and the RPMS would just go crazy up and down. It was back firing and I almost got killed driving it. The cam sensor was replaced along with the oxy sensor, now it comes to find out it is the 3rd cylinder. They want 7,500 for parts alone at the jeep dealer. That doesn't include labor. Needless to say the car is still sitting and I am PISSED!!!

Well the valve spring broke the valve dropped smacked the piston now there are oil and metal shavings on the piston dont know if it busted the piston but im pissed off cause its a jeep related problem and they wont fix it now i have to replace an engine and its not cheap i think its unfair and chrysler should fix it its not just my car cause upon googling jeep liberty valve problems its happened to many many many jeep owners

Valve slipped. It will eventually be sucked into the engine and blow it. Vehicle is only slightly over 72,000 miles. Estimate to fix is over $3,000. Given its existing electrical problems and two failed transmissions, I'm going to sell it for parts and scrap. Its garbage! When I bought it new, it was reportedly the most American made vehicle. Roughly 87% of all parts and assembly were American and I bought it, in part, out of a sense of patriotism. Now, Chrysler gets a bailout with my tax money and I get to buy a bus pass. Of all of its many problems, nothing has been covered under the warranty.

In the past 10 months our Jeep Liberty 2002 has had all it's valves changed. It is time for Chrysler to recall the 2002 Liberty

This 2002 liberty with 3.7 is a ticking time bomb, #2 valve seat dislodged and scored cylinder and piston for no good reason. Always changed oil and filter at 3000 to 3500 intervals ,inside engine was fairly sludge free from some other complaints I have read, now whole engine must be replaced. I have also had problems with computer in transmission, seat belt buckles stick, five radiators, window regulator, four waterpumps,we only use for highway use. This vehicle also had excessive tire wear due to upper and lower premature tire wear. All I can say now about jeep liberty is wow, worst vehicle I have ever owned in my whole life.I am a little bit surprised there is not a recall on the valve seat problem.Seems to me this company days will be numbered as I for one will never buy or recommend their products. Thanks jeep for selling a true lemmon.
Update from Jul 3, 2016: If jeep can not stand behind substandard valve seat problems, they should not be in the vehicle business. With so many valve seat failures they should not be allowed to just ignore this major flaw.Jeep will eventually go bankrupt again in my opinion,I will tell all my friends how jeep feels about its customers as they turn a deaf ear.Worst vehicle with the most problems I have ever owned in my whole life, keep up the bad service jeep corporation, just lost another customer.Hope everybody can read this before they consider buying the ticking timebomb.
