My Jeep was traveling slow leaving a traffic light and turning left. when I tried to straighten the vehicle out, it kept going left. Striking a curb and a fence. There was no damage to the vehicle, the fence crumpled. I could see no reason for the problem, backed it out on the road. Wheels seemed ok. I slowly drove it 2 blocks home. While turning into the drive, the passenger wheel folded inward on the top. I removed the wheel and found the control a arm completely snapped in half. If this had happened at any speed above coasting, it could have killed every one inside and any one driving or walking on the sidewalk I crossed. Luckily, no one was hurt and no major damage to my Jeep.

While driving down the highway, the rear lower control arm on the driver's side broke. This caused the vehicle to lose control and veer dramatically to the right across three lanes of traffic. I researched the problem and there is a recall on the lower control arms but it is only for certain "salt belt" states. I live in Northern Kentucky where salt is used during the winter months. I'm also 5 miles from both Ohio and Indiana which are included in the recall. When the arm broke it caused the rear-end housing to bend from the force. The front wheel and tire were also damaged from the loss of control.
