Liberty 4WD 6-cyl

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, she heard a loud thumping noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the road and noticed the front driver side hub had detached from the vehicle. The contact placed the hub back on the wheel. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. There was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 12E047000 (suspension: Front: Hub) that may be related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 159,000....updated 04/25/13
