Tire pressure in all vehicle and trailer tires checked prior to departure on 270 mile trip. Driving 10 mph under speed limit in right interstate lane when, without warning, sidewall of the hankook dynapro at/M tire blew out. Tire mounted on vehicle's right rear. No brake applied. Vehicle's rapid loss of speed and instability caused trailer to go out of control despite new antisway bar. Vehicle pulled/turned rapidly to the right, leaving the roadway traveling approximately 80' before coming to rest 90 to the roadway in the ditch. Trailer broke free from vehicle despite safety chains, antisway bar, and ball lever locked with padlock. Padlock body was broken by the breakaway as were the safety chains. Antisway bar received an approximately 30 curve to the braking bar (reese brand). Violent whipping motion (recorded on front and rear dashcam cameras and by witnesses) caused major damage to the rear of the vehicle when impacted by the trailer. Trailer received some front body damage. Failed tire has been retained. Spare tire installed on site. Tires were a set all with 8/32 tread. (new these tires had 11/32) tires were installed just under 2 years ago. I have installation invoice four 4 tire installation. Illinois state police responded immediately to investigate. Trooper crabtree.

I bought a Goodyear tire for my Jeep Liberty and the tire failed and upon inspection there was a tear on the side wall of the tire which was unrepairable and had to be replaced. This is a defect in the tire and not from road hazards

My daughters were driving home and the rear tire slid on some gravel and it appeared she over corrected and they went over an embankment and rolled at least 8 to 10 times. At some point while they were rolling both of their seatbelts (both front seat)came unhooked and caused my youngest daughters head to hang out the window. People should know that this will or may occur in an accident of this type for their safety.

2004 Jeep Liberty. Consumer request refund for defective tire. The consumer stated he purchased a set of four tires for his daughter's vehicle. Approximately two months after the tires were installed, the right rear tire blew out while his daughter was driving. A visual inspection of the tire was performed and it did not appear that his daughter ran over any type of hazard. It seemed that the tire had just exploded. Nexen roadian ht SUV 235/70R16.

Identical situation to case # 10091230. While driving on a wet road from previous days rain my 2004 Jeep Liberty lost control while traveling out of a turn at 20 mph and went off the road down an embankment and crashing into a tree. I have found numerous other complaints about this same situation here: www.1010tires.com/tirereviews/goodyear_wrangler_sr-A_tire_reviews2.html the issue appears to be a compatibility issue with the Goodyear Wrangler tires and the Jeep Liberty with a short wheel base and light rear end. These tires are good on dry surfaces but are extremely poor on wet conditions.

Twice in the past two months vehicle did a 360 degree turn after the brakes were applied. One occurrence was on wet road surface, and the other incident occurred on dry road surface. An accident investigator ruled out the ABS brakes being as the cause. An accident occurred on the wet surface with the vehicle colliding into barrier.

2004 Jeep libery limited 4WD, VIN 1J8-gl58kx4W-255517, tires: Goodyear Eagle R-sa P235/70R16, mileage: Approx. 1,000 (approx 1 month old). Rear end of car skids dangerously in low-speed turns, on normally wet (not puddled) roads, when in 2wd. This has happened several times in the last 3 weeks, always in slow-speed Suburban driving. (thank god.) skid happens when you make either a right or left hand turn, and then apply gas during the middle of the turn (as you do to maintain speed in a low-speed turn) at which time, the rear wheels lose traction and skid to the outside of the turn. I understand the Goodyear Eagle R-sa tires are poor in the wet traction dept, but this must be a specially-bad batch, because this skid occurs so readily. Dealer service manager (georgetown Jeep, georgetown, ct) admits that wet weather traction is a problem for the Liberty and he says "we advise using 4 wd when the roads are wet." Well this floored me! no one told us that when the car was delivered. And the owners manual does not say this. Chrysler/Jeep says they will not do anything more. They will not have the tires tested, for example.
