This is a pain in the ass to have multiple windows broken within a couple months. I have kids and the weather is getting cold so having this problem really sucks. having plastic over it is a safety hazard. The need to keep the rain and the cold out shouldn't have to be a problem. I've owned other jeeps and never had this problem, must be a new problem with newer jeeps.

Well this is the second window regulator to go out in a year. When will they do a recall? Maybe after they get a class action law suit. This is the worst Jeep/Chrysler I have owned and will never by their junk again. The shop that did the repair told me to go and buy the two remaining window regulators, so I will have them handy, because they will be going out. Bye Jeep and hello Toyota. Every shop I talk to tells me the same thing. Jeeps are junk.

I always find it annoying when window lift units fail. I had a 2001 Chevy truck that had a couple of fail. The rear windows aren't used as often as the front, so the fronts might have failed prior to my ownership of the vehicle.

Obtained the vehicle used last year because our vehicle had been totaled while traveling cross county in our motor home. Needed a vehicle that could be towed and that I could afford based upon the settlement from the insurance company for a replacement vehicle.
The front right passenger window dose not move, nor do I hear any sound. Before I tear the door apart, I wanted to learn what the cause could be. Well, thanks to this site and others, I learned that this is a common problem with the jeep liberty. Here it is 12 years after this vehicle was produced and the same problems still surface.
Chrysler needs to step up and replace these defective parts. Would love to be involved in a class action suit regarding the poor construction standards used and are still in place by Chrysler.

First, my rear passenger window regulator failed. Had it fixed for about $200. Next the driver's side rear window regulator failed. Again, fixed to the tune of $200. Astoundingly, both windows failed AGAIN within two years of first replacement. Then, the front passenger side failed as well. I haven't fixed any of them, knowing that they'll just break soon again. VERY frustrating!!! Jeep should correct this shoddy part for free, but their response has been terrible. Hope the class action goes through. Because of this & other issues with the vehicle, I may never buy a Jeep again.

I had read and heard so many complaints about the window motors going out. There really should be a recall. I love my jeep, but I don't know if I could ever trust buying another in the future. So far I replaced front drivers side, front passenger side, rear driver side all at $200 each.

Window on driver's side will not roll up or down. It's raining, have to cover it with plastic and tape.

I own a 2004 Jeep Liberty that has a power window regulator fail approximately 6 times over the last 7 years. I bought vehicle in 2007 and the front passenger failed in 2008. It failed again 6 months later. then the rear passenger failed twice followed by the rear driver's side window. Then the front driver and so on I have repaired it all six times buying dealership parts now I have two spare Dorman products on standby for the unfortunate inevitable. I also now do it myself as it is a pretty easy fix and saves a lot of money. The fact that this has not been recalled is beyond me.

Oh yeah I have complaints, this is the '' 7th '' time this has happened....I bought my 2004 Jeep Liberty new...
The 1st time was in 2008......The 6th time I was on vacation, it was fixed with a cable tie....So far it has cost me a fortune to have them fixed......The 3rd time it happened the front and back on the passenger side broke at the same time, that was a pain....The 4th time was less than 10 months, the back one again and was still under the year warranty.....I, along with thousands of other people I'm sure, think something should be done about this and I would love to be refunded all my money.....

raise/lower window, loud noise & metal cable appears
Last week just before taking my jeep to my mechanic - regarding fixing the opposite window from November 2014 - when my driver side window began the same symptoms: while lowering window, hear a loud grinding/clattering noise, and the metal spiral cable appears. Can't operate the windows, and now - after many hours of research - I'm wondering if this is what happens just before the windows fall into the doors. Just adding my beef here while trying to decide what to do. Don't have time, energy, funds or strength for this.

On approximately November 12, 2014, when I attempted to lower the passenger side window, I heard a loud noise and this metal snake-like cord came up on the side of the window. I raised the window and tried not to use it during the winter. Each time I would forget and start to lower it, the same thing occurred. Am now researching what to do about it, as on April 22, 2015, same thing happened to driver's window. Will see if I qualify for a recall.
Update from Apr 24, 2015: The windows haven't actually fallen into the door yet, but I'm half expecting it now after reading so many other complaints.

Driver, front passenger, two back passenger windows regulators keep breaking. I bought this Jeep in 2011. I have already had to replace every regulator and am on a second round of them breaking and being replaced.
I cannot afford this. $160 plus for the regulator and then labor for someone to replace it for me. I do not appreciate being up town, alone, and my window drops and cannot be put up. I do not even use the back windows. They just drop as the regulator breaks for no reason at all!!
This is dangerous!! Anyone can jump into my vehicle, kidnap me and drive off with me in my own vehicle! Anyone can hide inside of my vehicle. Anyone can steal my vehicle with great ease!
This is expensive as it appears this will take place, for every single window, every two years or less. I just replaced one, less than six months ago, and it has already broken - I have not rolled the window down even one time - it just broke and the window drops. It has torn a strip out of my window tint - which I will not even bother to replace the window tint because this is going to be going on regularly.
After I made the purchase on the vehicle, drove it off the lot, got home, the window fell. I went back to where I purchased it and the dealers said - oh yeah, this is a common issue with the Jeep Liberty. What an ass!! I would not have purchased this vehicle if I had known this. I purchased the vehicle in 2011, with 76k miles. I now have 91k miles on it, 2015.

Rarely used my back windows and one day rolled them down and driver's side wouldn't roll back up. So my ex screwed a piece of wood in the door panel to hold the window up. 2 weeks later the other window on passenger rear did the same thing, same fix. Too expensive to fix.

This has been crazy. Both rear windows have fallen down into the door. One happened we took it got it fixed not even two months later they both fell into the door. Right now we just have them taped up. I think its freaking ridiculous that JEEP can't spend a little to fix a mistake they took by being freaking cheap!!!! Man up and do a recall.

Had to replace a very expensive window regulator on my Jeep. Frustrating and expensive.

Front right window regulator broke - another pain in the ass.

Power Windows, Driver Side Rear Window. The little Plastic Guide that takes the window up and down keeps breaking. The window falls fown. Ordered new. They come in Pairs, so I figured the other side would go soon, got the set. Have replaced this part 3 times for myself, and done twice for friends. Appears to be a defective design. The little plastic part is not impossible to replace, Just follow the instructions exactly to get the whole regulator out.
SUGGESTION: Do Not Power the windows PAST their LIMITS.
