2005 Jeep Liberty. Care has had few recalls which includes the most recent recall regarding the gas tank. Customer very unhappy with her car. The consumer stated the radiator, water, rocker arms, spark plugs all had to be replaced. Also, the engine light illuminated after the repairs were done. The dealer informed the consumer the head gaskets and cylinder heads needed to be replaced.

2005 Jeep Liberty. Consumer states vehicle stopped while driving and caught fire. The consumer stated the vehicle was parked when it caught on fire. According to the fire department, the fire may have started in the steering column. The consumer stated a recall was issued for the previous model and she believed that same issue may have applied to her vehicle as well.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated while driving at relatively low speeds, the vehicle stalled. While attempting to restart the vehicle he noticed a small fire coming from under the hood. The police were called and the fire was extinguished. A police report was filed accordingly and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was left in the dealers possession. The contact stated he had previously had the egr valve replaced but could not confirm if it was linked to the current failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 86,376 and the current mileage was 86,385.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. While driving 25 mph, the dashboard lights illuminated then the vehicle shut off. The contact waited five minutes then was able to restart the vehicle. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. Approximately three months later while driving 25 mph, the dashboard lights illuminated then the vehicle shut off which resulted in total loss of power and a head on collision into another vehicle. As of May 20, 2008, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The failure mileage was 35,500 and current mileage was 35,623.

: the contact stated while traveling 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, who replaced the power control module. The problem returned after a month. That component was replaced five times. Also, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost pressure. The vehicle operated after restarting. The tire pressure light illuminated, but the tire pressure was normal. The dealership was unable to diagnose these problems.

: the contact stated the vehicle consumes oil through the breather and processed in the engine coolant giving the engine a foul smell. The vehicle was inspected at the local service dealer were it was determined this was a normal function in the engine. The manufacturer was contacted about the problem. They both agreed and supported the dealers determination.

The contact complained about several problems. The first problem occurred when slowing down to 50 mph, the vehicle jerked. The second problem involved the egr valve which was replaced. The third problem concerned the check engine light illuminating. There was a popping noise in the rear end when reversing. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, and an oil leak was discovered coming from the return line on the turbo. No repairs have been made. Updated 01/04/06.

Tempurature gauage indicates vehicle is overheating. Chrysler says vehicle will not overheat, the problem is in the gauge. No known repair for the problem. It is still unknown if it is a gauge or engine problem
