This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
Jeeph as issued a service bulletin number :08-005-11 groupe :Électrical date :February 02 2011
they are having problems with the 7 volt ceramic glow plug so they took them out. instead they replace the glow plug by new 5 volt metallic one's and you have to change the glow plug module and have the computer reprogram. cost $248 for the kit 2.5 hour of work plus tax for a total of 600.00
but here is the funny part. if you happen to go to the dealer and just make sure they update the computer. your old 7 volt ceramic glow plug and your old glow plug module just don't get enough power anymore to heat the plug and in cold temps it wont start. they will suggest you replace the glow plug with the new kit at your charge but they are the one that caused the problem. so i think Jeep should send a recall and pay for the problem it is causing. the best example is WV they had the same ceramic glow plug problem but they assume it was their mistake and did the recall at no cost for the client

This was the 2nd time the car was in for this problem. The 1st time it was at 13000 miles. The dealer (Lithia Jeep Chrysler of Anchorage) had the vehicle for 10 days. They changed the starter and relay pack(that is what they told us) and it still didn't fix the problem. I called Lithia customer service and it was not helpful. I got the impression they were just covering for themselves for the Chrysler Corp. I called Chrysler and the problem was fixed in 2 days. The invoice I received from the dealer shows that they only had the Jeep for 2 days when they really had it for 10 days. I think they are liars and have the paper work to prove it. I won;t recommend anyone buying a vehicle from any of the Lithia dealers
