The rear driver side window suddenly, and unexpectedly, fell open from the fully closed position with a loud crashing sound. One open it was unable to be re-closed. Failure in this manner was very startling and can be seen seen as an unnecessary distraction which, in my opinion, constitutes a safety hazard. Upon investigation I found that the part of the mechanism that directly supports the window is made of plastic and further is of insufficient dimension to support the weight of the glass through repeated cycles. The dealer offered me the same inadequate part as replacement which is destined for the same failure.

The contact had the switched replaced in June 2010; however, the failure continued to occur. Also the rear window regulator failed, causing it to fall into the door panel. I, like most others owning a 2006 Jeep Liberty have had several problems with the window regulators that Jeep continues to use. I have replaced two rear windows within a week costing about $1000 on my vehicle which has low mileage. I consider this a severe safety issue as there is no warning to when the windows fail and objects enter the vehicle at a high rate of speed which could cause a crash or death.

Three of the four windows have had the regulators break - the first one repaired under warranty, the second the dealership charged me (even though I had a warranty in effect) and the third window is currently being held in place by gorilla tape (the view out the passenger front window is fortunately not obscured). This window started falling in when we hit a bump driving down I-95 at highway speeds. Given the huge number of issues with this model year with the window regulators, it seems inevitable that the window of the final window will give way at some unknown point in the future. Why Jeep has not addressed this is inexcusable.

1. power windows - three out of four of the power windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty sport have fallen within the last month. It is not wear and tear because I hardly use the back windows, it is a defect. I have an infant daughter and this is a hazard for her since she has to ride in the back. 2. electrical sensors - while coming to a slow stop or turning my vehicle has suddenly shut off for no apparent reason. *****both of these issues are common with this make & model. Why is there no recall" is Chrysler waiting on someone to die before they make a move" I can't afford the ridiculous price to have these defects fixed. I have to feed my family...so I must tape my windows up and hope they don't get broken in to.

While driving down the street, the right rear window fell off it's track. This is the third time this has happened, the other times involved the front passenger's window in April of '07, and the left rear window in July of '08.. the first two were covered by warranty. Our '06 Jeep is one year past the 36 month warranty and has about 22,000 miles. I have talked with two dealers and the Chrysler complaint line and the information so far is that Chrysler, even though the problem is pervasive enough that they issued service bulletin # 23-008-09 to the dealers acknowledging the chronic problem, will not accept responsibility and makes the owner foot the bill. I have since been online and there are literally thousands of similar instances being reported. Someone is going to get killed. Chrysler needs to suck it up and issue a recall. Period.

This is my second complaint concerning the rear windows of my 2006 Jeep Liberty. After reading all the complaints filed concerning this model of vehicle and the number of "repeat" failures, I just got done sealing the other back door window shut with silicone sealant. It is pretty bad when you owe the bank $11,000 for a vehicle and you have to constantly put money into it because of a defective part the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge.

I was driving down the road with my son in the car. All of a sudden the rear passenger window went down. It was chilly, so I ask my son to put the window up and he said I didn't put it down. I tried to roll it up (power window) and heard a grinding noise, but the window would not go up. It apparently just fell down into the door and now I can not get it up. I went on -line to see if I could find a fix and ended up finding a huge amount of people with the exact same problem. I called the dealership this morning and they said I could bring it in and diagnostic is $120. Are you kidding me"??" so I taped a plastic bag over the window for now, but I did not realize how much I used my rear passenger window for driving, until it was no longer usable. This is absolutely unacceptable that this many people have had this problem and nothing has been done by the dealership or Chrysler.

It is common that 2006 Jeep Liberty window regulators fail frequently. I have had all 4 of my windows fail; two of the windows have failed a second time following dealer repair. Although the rear windows are rarely used, both have fallen completely into the door while I was driving. This is clearly a dangerously flawed design that should be corrected by Jeep/Chrysler.

Window regulator failed on driver side rear window in 2007. Regulator was replaced and covered by factory warranty. Window regulator failed on passenger rear window in 2010, not covered by factory warranty. By 2010, the window regulator had an updated design that required a new window to be purchased in addition to the regulator, as the old window would not fit properly with the new regulator.

2006 Jeep Liberty rear driver's side window free falls into door. This is the 2nd time this issue has occurred on the very same door. The first time, it was fixed by the dealer at no cost (mileage: 19000, Feb., 2008). This time, after explaining that the problem was exactly the same as the first time, the dealer asked for $90 to diagnose the problem, which I found ridiculous. After a very brief internet search, I found that this is an extremely common problem, which makes it even more infuriating that the dealer wanted me to pay them to diagnose the problem. The dealer finally offered to make the repair for $100, which I declined. This is a clear safety issue, not to mention a security issue. When this happens when the car is in motion, it causes the driver to be distracted, which can -- and eventually will -- lead to an accident. On the security side, this issue can occur at any time, even when the vehicle is not being driven, which could lead to a window being open without the owner's knowledge. Chrysler and the government regulators need to start treating this like the safety issue that it is and issue a recall. It makes no sense that an owner should have to pay to have a clearly defective item replaced, especially when its going to be replaced with virtually the same part, which will eventually fail again.

The rear left window stopped working, and now slides down into the door on its own. This seems to be a very common problem on Jeep. At this point in time, anyone can walk up to my Jeep an simply push the rear window down from the outside. Luckily, I was alone in my car when the window stopped working and slid down on its own.
