Window regulator failed causing window glass to fall open. Our family pet exited the window while the vehicle was moving. These window regulators fail easily and without notice. Windows will suddenly just drop, or open. This can allow a pet or child to exit the vehicle while moving. Also a security hazard as the window regulator can be broken easily by placing both hands on the window and pushing down causing the plastic parts in the regulator to fail. The regulator has to be replaced - if done by a dealership can cost $450 per window. The are many documented cases of multiple window regulators failing on all year models.

My 2006 Jeep Liberty crd has had 4 window regulators fail in 28 months. I have 39,800 miles on the vehicle. I am the original owner.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the motor that controls the power windows was defective and stopped working numerous times. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer and they replaced the motor in the door each time. This only remedies the failure temporarily and lasts approximately 2-3 months before it fails again. The motor has been replaced at least five times. The contact has found numerous complaints on the same failure and believes the manufacturer should be responsible for this defect. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 30,000 and current mileage was 65,000. Updated 02/24/09. Updated 02/26/09.

While I was away from my Jeep, the right rear window rolled down and broke -- again. That was the 6th time this occurred in this vehicle to these windows. Not more than 10 minute later, the left rear window broke, exactly as they all have done. So, this is the 7th time each of 4 window mechanisms in this Jeep have failed.

2006 Jeep Liberty window regulator went bad. On August 20, 2008, I noticed that my rear driver's side window was down a bit. Tried to power it up, but it would go. Eventually slid down into door. I did some internet research and found thousands of people that had to have regulators replaced multiple times.

1. I purchased my Jeep Liberty crd new in Sep 2006. I noticed coming home from work today that it sounded like the rear window driver side was slightly open so I tried to close it and heard a grating noise so I stopped pushing the button. Drove home. Got out and looked. Saw it was down about an inch. Tried to raise it. Same noise. Used my hands and pushed it up. Knew something was wrong. Got the husband. He pulled off the panel... we saw the orange regulator cord was not attached. Then discovered it was not screwed in to the motor on the other end. Broken plastic. Odometer reading 36150. Priceless. 2. this is the first I have had the problem. I live in Colorado and no one even sits in the rear seat. Yes it gets hot. But I had a 1994 Ford explore with over 200K that I signed over to my daughter when she graduated and the windows never died.... 3. appears since it is out of warranty at 36150 I will need to contact the dealer and pay $375 to replace the regulator that is well documented as nonfunctional.

Bad window regulators, always breaking. All my window regulators have been replaced, and now I'm working on the 2nd round, and some windows have been replaced twice already in 2 years. The problem is it leaves the car vunerable for left or even damage (depending on the weather) plus it's not safe, if you have small children in the back and the window starts to fall down while you're driving.

Our Jeep Liberty has had the left rear window repaired 3 times and it fell down again yesterday. The right rear has been repaired twice. The sunroof repaired once and the battery/electrical repaired three times. This doesn't count the windshield repaired twice because of leaks. I T appears the windows fall down about every 3-4 months.

'06 Jeep Liberty has window motor failure in all 4 windows. 2 window motors were replaced at dealership and have since also failed. Dealership will not assist in repairs due to mileage over factory warranty limitations and replacement motors are warranted for 1 year. 4 window motors have failed, some multiple times. I have also experienced multiple electronic failures. Dealership personnel stated to me that they have recognized constant complaints similar to mine, however they are unable to assist with problems.

2006 Jeep Liberty with electronic window failure. Consumer states that the rear electronic windows have failed and the right one has failed twice. Mechanic states that it is a regulator/cable problem.

From the first day that I bought the 2006 Jeep Liberty, the driver side window "fell" off the track, requiring me to manually push the window back into place before the window would close correctly. In addition, a few months into owning the Jeep, a piece of rubber fell off of the driver side door/window area. During a recall repair, I advised the dealer of the broken window and the piece of rubber that had fallen from the vehicle. Although the window was supposedly fixed and the rubber piece put back on the vehicle, the window again began to fall off the track within a week of the repair. The rubber piece also fell off from the driver side door/window again, also within weeks of the repair.

My latest Jeep, a 2006 Liberty (with fewer than 16000 miles), has gone to the shop 5 times for 5 broken windows (cables/regulators). They just rolled down one day and refused to roll back up again. The first window broke about one month after I purchased the SUV. Another of the windows has broken twice, within 6 months of the first "repair." Then I had to take it in recently with two windows broken at the same time. It's ridiculous! updated 10/10/07.

Twice within the last year while driving I heard a loud bang and the window, first to my drivers side window and the second to my passenger window drivers side, starting slowly sliding down into door with window switch non-functional. This first happened July of last year and again this month, May 2007.
