Jeep Liberty 2006 left rear window crashed down while driving. Regulator broken found that there where many complaints on this with Jeep.

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty with approximately 55K miles on it. I use my windows very infrequently. In the past two weeks both the front driver's side and front passenger side window regulators have broken. I have seen on a couple web sites that this is a known and recurring problem with this model.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 40 mph the front passenger side window fell down. The contact stated that when the window fell the front passenger side door could not be opened from the inside. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the entire mechanism inside of the door panel needed to be replaced. The door panel replaced by an independent mechanic. One month later, the failure recurred on the rear drivers side window. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who advised the contact replace the entire mechanism inside the rear drivers side door panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4X4. While driving at approximate speed of 55 mph, the passenger side window suddenly fell into the bottom of the door panel. The dealer advised the window and window motor would need to be replaced at the contacts expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 51,618. Updated 08/12/10 the consumer stated the dealer agreed to the repair/replacement at no cost. Updated 08/17/10.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph coming to a complete stop with the front driver side window in the downward position. The contact attempted to activate the window mechanism. However, the window failed to operate upwardly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions for the identical failure. The vehicle was repaired under the service warranty. The repair part was unknown. Also, the front passenger side window would not function in an upward position. In addition, when dispensing fuel into the fuel tank to the full capacity level; the fuel would continuously spray out of the tank without shutting off. The fuel tank was replaced at the dealer. While driving my 2006 Jeep Liberty the rear passenger driver side window fell down. While in the up position. I already had the driver side window fixed under warranty. Since I live in a cold climate state this could cause a safety issue if the window were to break in climate weather.

The contact informed that the front passenger, rear passenger and driver side window regulators and window glass were replaced at different times by the dealer under the service warranty. However, the contact was responsible for the expense of the window glass replacements which was not covered under the warranty. Recently, the front driver side window regulator malfunctioned. The vehicle was in the process of being taken to the dealer for repair. The failure mileage was 10,391.

Jeep Liberty window regulator failing multiple times. Safety compromised due to potential invasion, climate issues, etc. I've had several windows replaced and they continue to break, now of course the warranty is expired. This is a serious defect that Jeep apparently is unwilling to recall to date.

First one side quite rolling up and down and then on June 4th 2010 the left rear window wouldn't go up and made a loud roaring noise and clicking and my son got soaked from the rain and now it still won't roll up. Also, the esp and traction control light came on and is staying on.

No known cause of defect except cheap/faulty parts from manufacturer. Window regulator fixed numerous time, resorted to duct tape that does not hold. Windows won't stay up, defective window regulator for 2006 Jeep Liberty. Numerous consumer complaints. This is a safety issue, especially for those of us who work nights and have to approach the vehicle with the window not intact. The vehicle is not secure.

We purchased a used Jeep Liberty 2006 several months ago. This spring we rolled down the rear windows and couldn't roll them up. In fact, the rear windows seem to be disconnected from the window mechanism and can freely descend. I had to wedge them in place to keep them up. In arranging to have these fixed we were told by service personnel at corwin churchill motors in bismarck, North Dakota that this has been a problem with Jeep Liberty and that no safety recalls for these defective windows have been issued. This seems to be a safety hazard for children or pets. If the window were to freely descend a child or pet could potentially be injured from a fall out of the vehicle. I have discussed this issue with the injury prevention director at the North Dakota department of health who suggested I submit this complaint to your office.

My 2006 Jeep Liberty has had the window regulators fail with the window falling back into the door unexpectantly while driving. All four of the regulators have been replaced. The rear drivers side regulator has been replaced twice and now has broken again for a third time. No warning signs are noted prior to the failure. So far it has only happened during good weather. It could cause an accident if it were to happen during inclement conditions. The first two failures were repaired under warranty with the same faulty parts. The last three repairs were performed by myself as the vehicle was out of warranty. Jeep has not redesigned the part but only replaces the failed regulator with the poorly designed orriginal equipment. The component which fails each time is a plastic piece which holds the window and connects to the regulator cable. This plastic piece fails even with minimal to no use of the window. The rear windows in my Jeep have almost never been rolled down and still fail. I do not have any of the prior failed window regulators but the last failure has not been repaired yet and would be available for inspection. Below under the "equipment information" heading and then subcategory "model", I was given several model numbers of which I have no idea so I picked the first one.

I was driving home with my wife and 7 month old baby in her car seat while driving, all of a sudden the rear passenger side window completely drops inside the door. I'm very upset about this due to if the window would've broke or shattered it could've hurt our new born baby. I have since looked online and have seen thousands of similar cases with the same problem (2006 Jeep Liberty). I don't know why Chrysler has not recalled this problem with the windows when soo many people are having the same re-occurring issue. Im stuck now with a bill from the dealer due to the warranty does not cover the whole cost of the repair which they explained that I need to replace the motor, window regulator also the glass. Keep in mind I jus purchased this vehicle in January 4 months later im already having problems.

This is not the first time one of these windows has failed when the switch is activated. They have failed twice before in this vehicle over the period we've owned it. This vehicle was purchased new from the dealer and has been an ongoing problem with the windows.

In 2006 Jeep Liberty, driver's side rear window dropped in door while driving at slow speed in a parking lot. When attempt was made to roll window up with power window switch strange noise was made and window remained down in door. Broken piece of plastic was found at bottom of the door. This is definitely a manufacturers defect and a different replacement part has been made, showing that the original is not acceptable but consumer is expected to absorb the cost.
