All four electric window motors have failed at least once, some more than once. This appears to be a known issue for Jeep Liberty's and warrants an investigation and recall notice as repair of this known defect can be as costly as $350-500.

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The other day I heard a noise when I was letting the window down. The window was stuck and wouldn't go down or up. I got out of my Jeep and touched the rear passenger window and the window moved up and down when I tried to let the window up. I had to place card board in the window's frame to keep the window up. The next day the window fell into the window's frame and I can't get it out. This is my second night with my rear window down in my Jeep. I don't have the money to repair the window right now and I'm afraid that a thief will enter my vehicle. I was surprised that this could be happening to a 2006 vehicle. I decided to research the issue on the internet and was surprised to find out that this was a common and expensive problem with Jeep Liberty's. why are Jeep not being recalled due to this dangerous and expensive problem?

2006 Jeep Liberty, both rear window actuators replaced within months of purchasing new. Now both front (driver & passenger) side window actuators failed. Windows do not go up or down, can only force them up manually and requires obstruction in window to keep them from falling. Safety issue. Windows fell down without warning, were not being used, just fell on their own. Currently not repaired and not paying dealer inflated price to repair their problem. Chrysler/mopar fix this now. Difficult keeping windows in up position, have had interior damage due to water coming in failed windows.

I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty. This is the third window regulator replaced in this vehicle. My Jeep only has 43234 miles on it. The first 2 were covered under warranty. This last was the rear left window. Hardly used. Had to replace the regulator plus put a new window in because they changed the part. At the cost of $425. What a rip!

2006 Jeep Liberty window regulators are just plain garbage. I just had my second one fail and I rarely ever move my windows. I was driving down the freeway, when a child passenger activated the window switch. There was a loud cracking sound and the window fell from fully closed position down into the door in fully open position. Some kid will fall out of a window one of these days and die because of this. There are complaints all over the web about these things failing while Jeep are parked and unattended. Why has there not been a recall on this obviously inferior and dangerous design?

The power window on the right rear and the left rear doors have failed. The regulator was defective on the right rear door and was repaired by the dealer while under warranty but it still cost me $100. Now the left rear power window does not want to raise the window and it is no longer under warranty.

I've had my 2006 Jeep Liberty for only 2 years and have already had window regulators in both the back windows fail 3 times! when you go to control the window, it makes a loud grinding noise and either (I've had both happen) slowly start falling into the door panel or immediately just plummet down with so warning except for the loud noise which gives you no time to react to the situation. Luckily, this last time, I was able to catch the window before it's great fall of death into the door and now it is electrical taped up to my door jam. Which is inconvenient and unsafe. Until I get it fixed, (or decide to drop another meaningless $300+++ dollars to fix a repetitive problem) my vehicle is unsafe and there should not be a worry on my part whether or not rolling down my windows at any time will cause this problem repeatedly. My front passenger window is making a funny sound now so I am reluctant to even use it. This is ridiculous. It's not like us Jeep owners are pressing down on the window or even doing anything out of the ordinary to contribute to this defect. I understand things break, but 3 times in 2 years? the manufacturers buy the part for pennies and charge us an arm and a leg to get the part fixed and it continues to break. This is highway robbery and without question there should be a recall issued on this consistent problem.

This has caused great inconvenience, not to mention concern. I'm a single mom of a toddler and the rear driver's side window regulator of my 2006 Jeep Liberty broke. I don't open this window often, since my passenger is in the back alone. I now have to collect $500+ to repair this problem that can become very serious, very quickly. Right rear window regulator/motor went out again. The dealership actually said this is incredibly common and they service it regularly. Normal cost would be $220 however, my vehicle was made before 01/19/2006 so it's $380. The window won't go up and suddenly came down.

Mine is a 2006 but I know of people from 2002 to current that have had this exact issue over and over.

Bad actuator on the 2006 Jeep Liberty windows. This is the 4th time I need to get the window fixed. It has never been corrected. There is a new actuator suppose to be better but have to replace the window also. Bad thing about it the window can fall down and it would be unsecured.

I purchased my 2006 Jeep Liberty in 2007 within the first year of purchase the rear right window motor went out and was covered under warranty and replaced. While still under the warranty the same window motor when out again and was again replaced. Now I no longer have a warranty both rear window motors have gone out. To replace both windows will cost me around $830 dollars. This is a serious problem with these window motors and needs to be addressed. If these motors keep going out like this there should be a recall and we as consumers should not have to foot this bill, this is a known problem with this vehicle.

1. using the front, power controls, I rolled down the each of the 4 windows of my 2006 Jeep Liberty to 3/4. 2. my rear, drivers window did not roll back up with the remainder when prompted from the front controls. My passengers and I heard a slight clicking a grinding, then the window fell to 1/2 open. At this point, the window will not move up or down. 3. my garage diagnosed the issue as a failed motor and regulator. Says he changed several in the past month. Talks about how each of the Jeep are made with poor wiring and regulators, and how he changes several, outside of warranty, at $500 a job. Chrysler has yet to recall a known issue that the have had in the past with the same equipment; though they have recalled this equipment for the same issues in the past. This continued use of poor components should not be the consumers burden to bear. Please urge a recall on power window regulators and motors for the 2006 Jeep Liberty.
