Liberty Sport V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I have a canvas slider roof on my Jeep Liberty. Supposed to go all the way past the back seat. I heard 2 pops when I was closing it. Fortunately, it closed. But now it won't open and it pops up on the sides when I'm driving. Statesville Jeep in Ft Mill, SC didn't even want to see it. They just said $3500.00 to replace it. Every one at Jeep that I've talked to has blown me off. They knew they were having trouble with them and sold it to me anyway. I know I should have researched it more. But I fell in love with that Jeep and especially that roof. What a mistake!! Now they're coming out with a new Jeep Renegade with a roof that is similar, but glass. Wonder if they'll stand behind that one. My guess is they won't. Jeeps aren't made like they used to be. I'll never buy another one. And when I take this in to sell it, I'll get a much lower price because of their defective product Thanks Jeep!!

Liberty Limited 3.2L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 20,000 miles

My 2009 Jeep Liberty has a full-length soft-top roof, available on only the Limited models. Within the first 2 years, the front passenger side of the roof began lifting up and producing excess noise at speeds above 45 mph. Around 35k miles, the roof broke while open and Arrigo Dodge/Jeep in West Palm Beach took a full week to replace it ($300+ in rental car fees). After that, the noise just got worse and worse: now, at 40k miles, the noise has been measured at > 85 dB on the highway. This car has been in and out of the dealership 4 times for this complaint without any resolution--things just keep getting worse and worse. I've contacted the regional and national Jeep reps without any response. This isn't the only problem I've had with this car, but is definitely the most annoying, and the lack of response (or even any solution, no matter how expensive) from Jeep is why I'll never buy another Jeep, Dodge, or Chrysler.
