The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that all of the valve stem sensors were corroded and causing the tire to deflate. The vehicle was taken to an independent tire repair shop where they replaced the valve stem with rubber ones in order to prevent the failure from happening again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 100,000. The current mileage was 127,000.

Approximately June 30, 2013, I was driving on an interstate at 65 mph when the low tire pressure light came on. I managed to cross 2 lanes and get to the side of the road to discover my front driver's side tire was flat. The cause of the flat was a broken valve stem. These are the aluminum valve stems used in the tire pressure monitoring system. I had it replaced. On November 22, 2013, only 5 months later, while traveling at a high rate of speed again, 65 mph, another of the aluminum valve stems broke. I did keep some of the pieces that I found. Unfortunately I had to travel approximately 1 mile on the tire that quickly went flat. There are only 52,000 miles on the vehicle. These are the original valve stems that came on the vehicle.
