Funny, when I entered the cost of the repair I got a warning...the repair is equal to or more than the value of the vehicle...EXACTLY the problem.
On August 29, 2012 I brought my Liberty to DarCars Jeep in Rockville, Maryland because my Sky Slider would not close. My Jeep Liberty remained in the shop for 80, yes that is correct, EIGHTY days!
During that time the service shop put two (2) brand new SkySliders on my Liberty...that did not work so engineers from Chrysler Jeep came out to inspect my Jeep, they were dumbfounded and could not figure out why my roof would not close. They then asked the manufacture of the SkySlider (a 3rd party) to build a SkySlider at their factory, mount it into a NEW frame and send it to the shop - FINALLY that seems to have worked.
I guess I am happy it is finally repaired, I can sell it and never deal with Jeep again BUT Chrysler seems to think it is ok that they held onto my car for 80 days. They refuse to pay for the rental car I needed during this time, stating "you should have borrowed a car from a friend". Sorry people. Single mom here. I continued to pay my car loan and NOW pay a rental fee of over $2k PLUS the cost of repairs - even though my car is still under warranty.
It's really sad. This was my second Jeep but I will never buy another. Customer lost for life!

Sky slider part broke. Trying to get it fixed but parts discontinued. Jeep company not helpful at all. After lots of research, have discovered many complaints on this roof. Jeep not backing up their product at all. Just want to get it fixed! I was able to find 6 out of 9 parts but last 3 have been discontinued. Ridiculous! Car is worthless with broken slider roof- trade in or for resale. Very frustrating. Not sure where to go from here! C’mon Jeep- back up your product!
Update from May 11, 2019: Jeep was no help at all. These vehicles with sky sliders should be recalled! So unsafe! Nevermind damaging the entire vehicle as rain gets in & damages entire electrical system! I have had it with Jeep & lack of support. Had to go thru insurance who totaled the car......if that tells you anything! And NO I DID IT NOT purchase a JEEP! It's too bad because I have had a few Jeeps, but never again. Thanks for nothing!
