Every time we get heavy rain I have to place towels under my center light fixture because water leaks out of the sides of it when I make turns. The water from this has caused my radio screen to stop working. Now I am having major electrical issues (I believe water got into the main computer unit.)

I bought my 2007 Jeep Patriot the end of May of 2007 and it started leaking from the dome light the first rain we had...a week after I bought it. I brought it to the dealer several times at first to get it fixed since the leaking kept recurring and it was covered by warranty. The tubing end was crushed and twisted was the first diagnosis. I lost faith in having the problem fixed. I dealt with the leaking dome light but now other issues have added to the disappointment. Water not only pours out of the dome light but leaks into spare tire, carpet in back seat area, on my shoulder from plastic border around sunroof, and little squares of plastic on bars on both sides of windshield which cover attachment pieces. I had to buy a steam cleaner to both extract water from carpet and spare tire space and also clean the carpet. I just brought my Jeep in this week to address all the leaking issues. They replaced a seal around my 3rd brake light. Just drove my car after a bunch of rain last night and water poured from the dome light, dripped on my shoulder, and some is in the spare tire area. The carpet was dry this time. I will have to bring my car in again next week. I imagine they will tell me I need a new sunroof which I am not confident will fix the issue. The sunroof was new when I bought it and it leaked so why should I replace it only to probably have more leaking and more in debt. I don't have a covered area to store my car nor should I have to do so. I have replied to Jeep's request for input on my Jeep and service but feel like it is a waste of my time. I think everyone at the dealer is trained to respond to my disappointment of water leaks with a comment such as, "yeah, sunroofs are notorious for water leak issues." REALLY! So we don't have the technology down by this point to install sunroofs that function properly yet dealers are selling brand new cars with them anyways. It is one thing to have water leaking due to a sunroof once a car is a reasonable number of years old but not when you drive them off the lot brand new. I guess I can either trade in my car to them and buy some other car somewhere else or find a nice tarp to throw over my car when I am not driving. I will always be driving with a big towel in my car so I can drive and dry which by the way is very distracting to do when driving. I just hope I am not mistaken for a drunk driver since dealing with water pouring all over as I drive makes me swerve a bit. Just saying....safety issue too!

I got this vehicle used at McGonigal in Kokomo, Indiana, and was HORRIBLY taken advantage of. I know its because I'm a female, but they sold a 2007 Jeep Patriot to me, making a funny noise when i turn, horrible windshield wipers, a horrible leak in the rear dome light, so bad it ruined everything that was in my trunk, and bad tire sensors!!! What a piece of crap!!!

My 2007 Jeep Patriot has a water leakeage problem. The water leaks through the dome light from the roof of the vehicle down onto the radio/satellite/navigation screen & controls. I had my vehicle for about 18 months now and I first noticed this issue about a year ago. The issue seems to arise whenever there is heavy rain or snow. I have called several dealers in my area to find out if there have been other complaints regarding this situation with this particular model but they claim no one else has ever had a problem. At this point I am fustrated to find that this is a growing issue and there has been no recall to address it.

The water leaks through the dome light of the jeep patriot. It will just build up in the light and when you go to drive that car it all comes pouring through the dome light and sunroof buttons and leaks all other the radio and controls on the inside panel of the jeep.

This has happened 4 times already. One time for each year I have the jeep. There is no solution. They tell you at the dealership that the drainage tubes get clogged and it is a common thing with sunroofs. I know it is not normal. It was covered 3 times and this 4th time I had to pay which is ridiculous. I wish jeep would just come out and say its their problem. Instead they make us customers look stupid and try to make us think its normal. They should cover this problem... it is obviously a design flaw or something. I am tired of dealing with this problem.

I am a college student that has to travel a half hour every day of the week to my clinical assignment. If I am not at my REQUIRED clinical assignment for my major then I am working my job to make a little money so I am not in debt beyond belief. I am seeing that this problem isn't being fixed which is worrisome. Also I need a car every day! I don't know what I am going to do but after all the problems I already had when the car was under warranty, this is really pissing me off. Water is leaking from both the dome light and the little squares on the support beams on the sides of the windshield. What an inconvenience, and a ridiculous problem.
