Driving 70mph on the highway, the tire low pressure light came on. Moments after, I noticed the steering was odd and seconds after I heard the flopping. The tire valve stem with TPMS failed. It had lost the nut which holds the stem to the wheel. I was going down the highway at 70mph! this is a safety hazzard and these need recalled and replaced with good parts!!!!!!!! this is the 2nd valve stem where the nut has disappeared and leaked air from the tire so it went flat! this is unexceptable. I just found out Jeep is the last to have a universal replacement rubber stem which can be programmed to the auto's computer. Federal regulations to implement more safety standards and the parts are made from aluminum and plastic (as to not increase mpg another fed regulation) which cannot hold up to the outside elements. Taxpayers are paying the bill again with $60-$70 to replace each TPMS since the valve alone cannot be replaced plus the aluminum ones are guaranteed to again fail. Why don't I see more complaints on NHTSA for TPMS since there are lots more on the internet.
