The water began leaking in the first winter I had the Jeep. I was told at the dealership the first time that I had wet feet and it must have shorted out the wiring under the drivers side floor causing all the dash lights to blink on and off, the anti lock brakes to try to kick in, the cruise control not to work, the 4wheel drive not to work. They fixed the wiring and it wasok...for a while. Next the humidity/rain started doing it, they thought it was a wheel sensor, told me to keep driving it until the lights stayed on...that happened and the floor board had an inch of water on it and we traced it to water leaking in the firewall. Had to call chrysler to get them to agree to pay for part of this as it was nowout of warranty by the third round of the mess. Dealership sealed the firewall and this has been ok since, now just for the leaking water in the map light!!!

I bought my patriot used from a dealership in October of 2012. April of 2013 on a rainy day I rounded a corner and water poured out of my dome light. I immediately called my local Chrysler dealer who told me that they have not had very many complaints of such a thing (now that I have read all the complaints I believe this is a crock). I took my jeep back to the place I purchased it from ( without a warranty) and they informed me that the drain tube was off so they fixed it. It was a Friday I had the jeep worked and the following day she leaked again. After reading all the complaints it seems as if this is an unfixable problem. I come from a long line of Chrysler owners and I must say that I am completely disappointed. I am a single mother of two who threw all of her savings at this rig to watch it get ruined every time it rains. What is wrong with the people of Chrysler? How could you put Americans who want to buy Americans in junk? I should of went with Toyota at this rate. I am not proud to own this Chrysler product and I am completely disgusted with the people who created and refuse to fix what needs fixing. No wonder more and more Americans are getting foreign cars. You need to right what you have wronged more people will appreciate the fact that you step up and say I'm sorry I messed up.

Update from May 6, 2013: I forgot to mention that water somehow seems to find its way into my passenger rear floorboards and I can usually soak 2 or 3 towels after a good rain.

This problem started as me hearing water sloshing around in the dashboard, which I assumed was coming from the water that had/has been pouring in from the dome lights and headliner. Then I started to notice (how could I not?) boiling hot water pouring in on top of my foot when it was on the gas pedal, mostly when making a right turn. THEN the air conditioner started making a horrid whining/screeching sound as the water was sloshing around in there. THEN the fan for the air conditioner just stopped working. In July.

I bring the Jeep in for service, and they tell me that the drainage tube is clogged, which is causing the water to back up in to the dashboard, and spill out onto my feet and soak the passenger side carpet. This makes sense, UNTIL, they tell me that due to where I'm parking, debris and SPIDERS are getting in there.

This is the second time in one day that they told me spiders caused an issue with water in this vehicle. I personally have never heard of anybody's air conditioner backing up and spilling over into their car and onto their feet. Let alone from spiders.

They did fix the issue and luckily it was covered by my lifetime service contract (all but $41). Let's see how long it takes to happen again.

So I brought my Jeep Patriot in for the second time for water pouring in through the dome light and headliner. They told me that SPIDERS were clogging the channels due to wherever I park and that was causing the water to pour in and rain on me. Of course, this is not covered by my Lifetime Service Contract, because, well, it's due to "nature" or some such nonsense.

They THEN tell me that my gasket is worn out and that is what is causing the debris to get in. (so, they basically made a product that wore out in two years, since I had this exact same problem two years after the car was built?) The gasket will cost $275, which I do not currently have as there are OTHER issues with the leaky P.O.S. that need to be fixed.

They "clear out the channels", replace the stereo for the second time (half of the lights were out on it due to water pouring into the cd player), and that was it. They did NOT clean the headliner, which is stained from all the water. AND when I got the car back it was raining out and of course, there was water leaking in from everywhere.

Upon calling, I was told that it was leaking because I did not have the gasket replaced. When 4 days earlier I was told that it shouldn't leak for a while since they cleaned out the channels. Why is it immediately leaking if there is no debris left in there?

I have looked online and SO many people have issues with this, yet instead of admitting that there is a problem, they're telling their service people to tell customers that spiders are at fault. Ugg.

I'm in the Army. I bought this Jeep overseas, and took posession of it in Germany. Within the first 10k miles, the dome light started to leak water from it. It did not leak every time, but always seemed to come at random times. The amount or intensity of the rain didn't matter... I watched it literally POUR out of my front dome light into my CD player when it was just misting.

I've had this problem ever since. Again...intensity doesn't appear to matter...just that its raining. I have noticed a sharp increase of water flowing in depending on how I have it parked. (Which end is higher than the other)

I'm taking it to a dealership here in Va Beach for the first time to attempt to solve the problem. From what I've read online, they're going to try to give me the run around. I'm filing this complaint to add to the mountain of data that has already been given.

I'm also unsure as to what to do. I'm unwilling to pay for something that is almost certainly a design/installation failure...but I can't afford to have components fail at high speed because of my pride.
