First problem was a large puddle in back seat floor well behind driver. Could not find out where it came from. This happened every time it rained unless I drove into my driveway instead of backing in. Although my driveway only has a slight incline. Then about a year later water was dripping from my dome lights above my rear view mirror. I do have a sunroof and I can't afford to have someone fix it if that's the problem. I understand there is a drain somewhere and maybe it's plugged so I will be looking into that. I bought this vehicle because it is a Jeep and I never expected to have leaking problems. This was supposed to be my last vehicle but I'm so disappointed.

This is ridiculous. Why the f*ck would there not be a recall on something that the f*cking Jeep makers f*cked up?? This problem is so stupid. Why the hell should I have to pay to fix something they didn't do right in the first place? This needs fixed NOW. I can't afford to get a new car. I have this one and paid it off and everything. How the f*ck am I supposed to pay out the ASS, because I'm sure it won't be cheap, when I can barely afford to eat? Do you know how much I have to pay in student loans every month? F*CKING FIX IT.

I had a "water dispensing dome light" several years after buying my jeep patriot new. I was told by the dealership that a branch or something must have fallen on the sunroof and it was not covered under warranty.(I have the "Lifetime warranty") It eventually stopped leaking?? Now the floor of the back passenger side of my jeep is literally covered in water after rain. I have vacuumed out well over a gallon of water in the last couple of days. I have an appointment in 2 days with jeep dealership so we'll see what they tell me this time... No more Jeep vehicles for me or sunroofs!

Im so upset! I did consumer report searches and all sorts of research and never saw this until I specifically searched for Jeep Patriot Leaks. We just purchased this vehicle (used obviously) for our daughter and have been very happy with it until today it RAINS for the first time and she has a slow drip in her headliner. NOT as bad as some people state but still horrible!!! I pray I am one of the lucky ones that can get it fixed...

It's been one of the most reliable cars I could imagine. Drove it around for the last 7 years and there's been no problems with it. At the end of the summer I noticed water start to pour in from the dome light but ignored the issue cause it had rained heavily the night before. Came back to the car a few weeks later and there was a full on puddle within the car and the interior was completely ruined. Seats are moldy and it doesnt seem like theres any remedy for the car.

water leaks into interior water leaks into interior

I purchased my 2008 Jeep Patriot in Summer 2010. In Spring 2011 (when it actually rains in Texas) I noticed a puddle of water inside the floorboard of my car. I ignored it, but the next time it rained and I was in my car I learned how the mysterious puddle of water got into my car. I took it to a mechanic and they could not figure out how the water got in. When I tried explaining to them my witness of the water leaking through the dome light, they could not find a leak anywhere.

Since then, I have had MULTIPLE leaks in my car coming from the light inside my car and the piece to the left of my steering wheel. Anytime I try to explain it to a Jeep dealership/take it to a mechanic to look at it, they "can't find a problem". Honestly, after spending hundreds of dollars for people to tell me they cannot find anything I have given up. Over time, lights in the buttons of my radio have burned out, lights in my ac have burned out, but today I am letting my voice be heard...

We had a downpour yesterday in Texas and I turned my car on this morning to once again the dome light leaking water (not a shocker for me anymore because unfortunately this is the norm) and my radio completely burned out. I cannot turn it on, see the time, nothing. It's gone.

I called the Jeep dealership this morning and he mentioned he just got off the phone with 2 others who are having the exact same issues with their Jeeps.

THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. There is no reason I should be paying hundreds of dollars for someone to tell me there is not a problem when there clearly is.

My 2008 Jeep Patriot is leaking from the dome light after heavy rain this past weekend. The seats in my car, the rug and dash were so wet I’m still airing out my car and I’m so paranoid about mold and rust, or even worse, the car creating a short circuit while my kids are in the car. My radio went out as well as a result of all the water leaking through, this is so upsetting.

I was so disgusted to find out that there were so many people with this same exact problem and Jeep not recalling these cars or at least sending a voucher for whatever the expenses are to fix it. I read that some have had to take in their cars more than once for the same repair and it doesn’t get fixed, it's like throwing money away.

I’m still paying for my car and I don’t think that it is at all fair that I am paying for a car that I cannot trust now. Unfortunately I bought the car as is and that was my worst mistake ever. Jeep, please do not ignore these pleas, we need safe reliable cars that we can trust. Beyond disappointed.

Water leaks into the car through the map lights. I experienced the problem in 2011 when the car was under warranty and the dealership repaired it. It is now 2014 and the problem has recurred. Online research indicates this problem is not unique to my vehicle.

Water leaks through front and middle dome lights. Front leak comes down all over front dash/electrical. EXTREMELY frustrating!! I called a Jeep Service department and was advised that they knew nothing about this but it's all over the Internet. I used to live in Las Vegas where it didn't rain much (so not a constant issue), but now I live in Wisconsin and I cringe when a heavy rainfall comes because i know my car interior will be drenched. This i a major design flaw that Jeep should resolve!!

Purchased a 2008 Jeep Patriot new in 2008. Has been garage kept, but noticed water coming out of the dome light when going thru a car wash. Then after heavy rain in mid September 2013 went to the car and after starting down the road had water pouring out of the dome light. The car was musty for a week, then it rained hard again the next week and noticed the floorboard on the passenger side soaked. It is just like the other complaints about the water coming through the dome, but now it is inside the vehicle. If there are "drains" that are plugged, it sounds like Chrysler should have designed better drains. This is supposed to be a rugged off-road vehicle; it should not be plagued by water leaks.

Like the folks listed above I have a continual problem with interior leaks through the interior light and fabric. Roof fabric is now stained and I have no idea if there is mold but my passengers have literally gotten soaked while driving.

Hoping there is some secret warranty or recall on this issue. It's really a driving hazard due to the distraction it causes.
