This 5 star vehicle has been a p.o.s. since the start. Bought used from Mile One with 68,000miles on it.
At 86,000 I had a new transmission put into it. Then again at 103,000 miles another transmission, and alternator. Had a lot of front end suspension and steering work done but the dumb asses at the dealer don't want to take care of it. They are even bigger pieces of sh*t than their vehicle they bent me over. Chrysler won't give a recall nor two sh*ts about fixing their junk vehicle and my problems.
Used to be a Chrysler/Dodge fanatic but slowly hating them.

Many patriots are having this problem, many with a lot less mileage. Chrysler /jeep needs to address this problem with a recall instead of the damn runaround.this is what happens with crappy parts . if you have to pay for this you get screwed by the dealer. this same thing happened with the liberty ,BAD BALL JOINTS!
Update from Sep 27, 2011: i bought 2 aftermarket mevotech control arms/balljoint with grease fittings and had them installed for a total price around $250.00. i have the org. arms, the left side was very loose/sloppy.better than 800.00 to 1000.00 charged by the dealers! a lot of tire and repair shop in upstate n.y are finding this balljoint problem. this needs to be addressed by chrysler jeep before someone gets hurt!

My 2008 Jeep Patriot was a piece of junk. In the 4 years I owned it I had the following problems:
CV joints went bad
Tie rod needed to be replaced
Wheel bearings went bad
