My 2008 Jeep Patriot with 100,000 miles on it both front and rear subframes are completely rotted and unsafe I need some help I can't afford all this repair I'm disabled I'm working with my local mechanic I need you guys to help pay for some of this

Front and rear crossmembers are rusted through. Replaced front subframe for $1008 in 2021. Available for inspection. Could come to a complete stop if it breaks. Confirmed by independent service center. Not inspected yet. Front squeak heard 2021. Rear squeak heard 2022. This is my 2nd jeep patriot & both jeeps front & rear crossmembers are rusted through breaking apart.

I was informed by a shop at an oil change that the Jeep Patriot 2008 has extensive rust and corrosion and is not safe to drive. This Jeep has been serviced many times at a Jeep dealer in the past and have never been informed of any rust.with this info we have researched 2008 Patriots and have discovered numerous complaints with rust and corrosion. I will reach out to the Jeep dealer as we purchased a life time maximum warranty at purchase when we bought new.

I made a U-turn in my vehicle on a town street, as I completed the U-turn the vehicles rear suspension broke. The broken suspension made the vehicle feel like it was going over a rumble strip, the suspension being broke made the wheels turn in towards the wheel wells where it rubbed and eventually blew my tire. I was looking for a place to pull off safely. When I finally got it too a auto shop they told me the suspension rusted in two.it had to be moved with a flat bed. I had the vehicles front fixed in January of 2017. Which was under the extended warranty because of complaints so the vehicles rear took an extra three years to rust out which is only two years over the warranty. I have enclosed a copy of bill from when then front was done.

I had to have the subframe and cross member replaced on my 2008 Patriot in January 2017, it has rusted again and the same parts need replaced, it was replaced oe parts which I feel were faulty. I was making a U-turn on a small city street and my rear cross member broke, I thought I ran over a something then my steering wheel shimmed, my tires that were held in the cross member were now tilted in to my cross member making black smoke. My tire rubbed on my wheel well untill blew. I was very lucky I was not going fast when this occured.

I was going down fern valley road in louisville, ky and someone in front of me slammed on their brakes and to avoid collision I slammed on mine. I heard a crunch and when I took off my driver side tire sounded like it was squealing so I pulled off to the side of the road to see what was wrong. My driver side tire was cocked sideways and the passenger side was straight. I didn't know what had happened yet so I just got it towed. It appears the subframe has snapped due to a large amount of rust.

Never received extended warranty information on front and rear crossmember corrosion (X69 warranty extension). Have all required maintenance at dealer. They never mentioned the extended coverage nor did they tell me after any of the service there was a rust issue. Now they refuse to cover this repair. I also have the lifetime mopar maximum care. They also won't cover because they say the part failure is due to rust. Tge parts requiring replacement should all be covered. They are:rear crossmember - rear upper and lower control arms - both rear calipers

In August 2017, the vehicle underwent maintenance with no reported problems or concerns. In May 2018, driving felt unstable. New tires were needed, so an appointment was made along with an alignment to cover bases. The mechanic called and reported that tires could not safely be put on, due to corrosion along the car's subframe (aka crossmember); the mechanic demonstrated by showing how easily perforation occurred. The vehicle was brought to a dealership; while the subframe was covered by warranty, the corrosion was severe enough that balding tires could not be replaced without extensive parts replacement. The vehicle is primarily driven from one garage to another, in various conditions. The vehicle has only been on several dirt roads roughly two years ago, but majority of driving was on highways. The vehicle was purchased used in 2016. Specific occurrence and onset of corrosion to subframe not known.

Takada recall vehicle shutting down while in reverse while dropping my daughter off. All dash lights were on and radio still playing. Next day, car shut off in drive while sitting at a busy intersection. Both times place vehicle in park and restarted. Very unsafe with children.

Our Jeep Patriot this past year had been stalling after getting gas. This happens now after every time we get gas. It doesn't matter how much 1/4, 1/2, or full tank. What makes this a serious safety issue, is that is stalls at any time, parked or driving at highway speeds. With no check engine light as a warning, my daughter put gas in approximately a month ago and after an hour driving, it stalled on a busy street traveling at 55 mph, which interrupted the steering as it decelerated on a highway. After towing to a local Firestone auto center we were informed that there were too many diagnostic codes firing off to diagnose the problem. Since then my husband gassed up the Patriot and it stalled at a busy intersection just pulling out of the station. He managed to drive on back roads avoiding traffic where it had repeatedly stalled. He then ran the Patriot for an hour in my driveway where it stalled another 10 times in an hour. He continued to run the Patriot another hour till the stalling stopped. I am not looking forward to getting gas again, however I have to go through this procedure to prevent a family member from getting involved in a fatal accident.

When the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a yearly safety inspection, the contact was informed by the technician that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to corrosion on the rear subframe. The contact took the vehicle to charlie's motor mall (465 western ave, augusta, me 04330, phone number: (207) 622-7327) where it was diagnosed that the subframe was corroded and needed additional parts. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the subframe was covered under the warranty, but not the installed part. The approximate failure mileage was 194,491.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for an inspection and the inspector informed the contact that the vehicle did not pass due to the sub frame having been severely corroded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the level of corrosion was confirmed and diagnosed that it needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Took vehicle in possible shock replacement, tire balancing and/or new tires. Was noted that the crossmember was almost rusted through and was in need of immediate replacement. When checked for service bulletins, was found that the 2007 Patriots are under recall for this very issue. Considering this is a 2008 Patriot, built in 2007, it should be included in the recall.

Driving back from visiting my brother in pittsburgh on mon. 10-10-2016 on the pa turnpike I heard a weird noise underneath my Jeep up front sound like a light squeaking noise but couldn't figure out what it was I was debating on dropping my Jeep off at my mechanic to check it out but we got home too late drove Jeep to dr appt that week on a Wednesday for test results driving on smooth roads only heard the squeaking noise until I hit a little pot hole on my driver's side on the back roads going about 25 mph & heard a clunking noise and no matter when I hit a little bump with the right front tire area I heard a loud clunking noise like a ball joint or shock I called my mechanic to tell him I was dropping off the Jeep and told him the noise it was making. After I dropped it off I was informed by my mechanic the next day that my front sub frame on the drivers side the bolt hole was rusted from the inside of the frame and broke breaking my connection to my right control arm and recommended me to replace the sub frame and both control arms on both sides due to the rust on the left side also before that too broke off. It could have been a very different scenario if this would of happen on the pa turnpike heading home to coopersburg, pa over 200 miles one way the man above watched over us that day the Jeep only has 36,192 miles on it the pictures below bad--driver's side front of sub frame totally inside rusted area-major problem / good is passenger side as you can see the hole and the insert inside is not aligned properly. I would think it was a defective part which is not on the recall list. My 1st Jeep purchase because of it supposedly ruggedness in all weather and good safety rating guess I was wrong I am 80 yrs young & I definitely don't dry off road I bought it new in 2008 safety rating& rugged thank you for your time thank god it didn't happen on the interstate-[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I took my Jeep Patriot to a local mechanic to put a hitch on the back for a bike rack, and he noticed that my subframe/cross member was in dire need of replacement due to rust. I took the vehicle to a Jeep dealer and was told that this is a common issue in these early gen. Patriots, and that a recall had been issued by Jeep (Chrysler action # 23-012-1) for the 2007 Patriot and compass models. The details of the recall would be that Jeep would cover the cost to repair the rotted sub frames in the 2007 Patriots manufactured prior to July 2007, and the eligibility for coverage under this recall is decided by VIN number. The dealer confirmed that my Jeep was manufactured after July 2007, but purchased in March 2008 and thus would not be covered under the same recall. Now, I am currently having issues with my Patriot's steering and deceleration, especially when driving on the highway. I experience shaking of the steering wheel and vibrations throughout the vehicle while going speeds over 50mph on the highway. When exiting the highway on a ramp, the issues are the most pronounced. I have to be diligent about braking several times to make sure the car is decelerating safely as well as the steering feeling extremely loose. I've contacted Jeep to see if the issue with the sub frame rotting would be covered in the 2008 Patriot model, since it appears to be the same issue as the 2007S had and had not been corrected. I had no luck talking to a representative with Jeep about this issue. My ticket with Jeep was closed by customer service after the E-mail rep. Directed me to purchase a warranty with Jeep or visit a dealer (which I'd already done). We are bringing the vehicle to a local mechanic to fix the sub frame this week. I own a 2008 Jeep Patriot 4X4. The driver side lower control arm failed at 29,000 miles costing over $800 to fix and not covered by warranty. I started doing research online in Jeep forums and blogs and found this is a common problem on these vehicles. Dealer told me if I haven't happened to bring it in for an oil change and tire rotation, my left front wheel would have fallen off. I don't drive this off-road, just back and forth in city driving to work and for errands and one 1400 mile trip every 2-3 years via interstate. Found they had a recall for this same issue in earlier versions of Jeep, but not on 2007 or 2008 Patriots. My research found this is a poor design and will keep happening over and over again once it starts. This is dangerous and could get someone killed and Chrysler/Fiat should stand up to the plate and do a recall on this vehicle. Will never buy another vehicle from them ever, period.
