Patriot Latitude V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 104,000 miles

So, the sun roof started leaking in May, it's been back to different garages 3 times, seems like I get water pouring from the front overhead light everytime it rains really hard. After 2 times at garages, over 400.00 invested, it still leaks. The interior now smells musty and the radio is shorted out, it goes on and off when it feels like it. Now I find out this is a common problem with jeeps but don't want have to buy another car right now either. This one has just over 100,000 miles. I am told the drain holes clog, but the channel inside the sunroof is not dirty and I can't fin the holes to try and clear them instead if taking it somewhere that won't fix it anyway. I am beyond frustrated at this point.

Patriot 4x4

I bought the vehicle used for my teenaged son. We've been in a drought, so had it for almost a year before we had a significant rain and noticed the issue. I've had it into a mechanic no less than 4 times, but every time we have significant rain, it "rains" inside the car and water pours out of the front overhead light and side panels soaking the floorboards and console. There are now water stains on the ceiling and it's just a matter of time before it shorts out the electronics on the console, the stereo, etc. An internet search showed that this is a common problem that Jeep doesn't want to acknowledge. JEEP, STEP UP AND ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I've had a number of other mechanical issues on this vehicle, but this is the most annoying since no one can seem to find the problem. Honestly, this will likely be the first and last time I purchase a Jeep product.

Town and Country Jeep of Levittown New York is a complete rip off. They took my $30,000 cash to customize my Jeep Patriot and left me with severe leakage issues that resulted with a radio that does not work. How could Chrysler allow this dealership to function with their unprofessional people in their Service Department, Jason and Jimmy? As well as the fact that they refused a directive by Chrysler to perform the repairs in addition to the fact that they lied and stated that they were making repairs and gave me a receipt that said they performed work that they did not do. My car has been between 2 dealerships for two months and my radio is in danger of never being completely repaired. PURE LUNACY.

Just tired of water gushing out of the dome lights and all over the console and radio every time it rains. It's conveniently not covered under the extended warranty because the only the motor of the sunroof is eligible. Sunroof still works. This is an obvious design flaw and I've read that even the new Jeeps continue to have this problem.

Patriot Latitude 4

Took to local dealership after first incident; after $150, had drains cleared.

Happened second time, 2 months later - same issue: melting snow on roof resulted in leak, a veritable waterfall from the dome light, all down the console.

A year ago, I took my 2011 Jeep Patriot into a car wash. The sunroof was closed. However, water began pouring through the sunroof and through all of the light fixtures until there was a short in the light fixtures, the stereo no longer functioned, and there was significant damage to the roof liner. I immediately brought the vehicle to the local Jeep dealership. They kept my car for two days and then called to tell me that "it had dried out and you can pick it up." I explained to them that I was hesitant to pick the car up when there surely was more damage to the vehicle that would warrant some additional investigation. They told me everything was functioning fine. When I picked up my car, the lights and stereo were still not working.

Frustrated, I called Jeep Corporate customer service and explained my dilemma to the representative. She told me that "Jeeps are not meant to go in car washes." I couldn't believe my ears and asked her how it was possible for Jeep to manufacture off-road vehicles that cannot be washed. She replied that I could get a bucket and wash it by hand. Even more frustrated, I decided to take my car to a Jeep dealership out of state. They also told me nothing was wrong with my vehicle and when I picked it up- once again- the stereo and the lights did not work. At this point, I was at a loss for what to do.

For months, I just kind of ignored the issue. Until....a couple of months ago when I was driving down the highway while it was raining outside and water, once again, started pouring through the sunroof and out of the light fixtures. I called the local Jeep dealership immediately and explained that the problem was happening yet again. When they were able to look at my car, they called and told me that there was a piece of painters tape in the sunroof from when I had the car painted that seemed to have caused the leak. With that in mind, I brought the car to the body shop that did the paint job and explained the problem. They never returned my concerns or calls. Then today, while raining- my car was filled with water in the console and dash and water was leaking through the sunroof and fixtures again.

I am frustrated and don't know where to go forward from here. Through some research, I have found that several other Patriot owners have had similar problems to this, but have not found any information about recalls or class action lawsuits. Any help would be appreciated.

Patriot Sport/latitude 2.4L Dohc 16v Dual Vvt

  • CVT transmission

This Patriot has been nothing but a headache. It started with brake noise while backing up. which I took back 3 times with them finally. replacing the pads/rotors. Still doing this so I contacted the Lemon Law. Then it went to the paint. Pimples as the dealer calls them on numerous spots. Which they would wet sand off and totally mess up the paint. Enough for them to paint the Hatch/drivers side rear cargo area & door. Which now does not match the remainder of my Patriot for being bright white . Then the sunroof started to leak. I noticed it while going thru car wash. Felt water hit the side of my face. I looked over thinking I had the passenger window cracked, did not! I then noticed water drips in the right front corner of the sunroof. Took to dealer & they claim this is normal and the Patriot was designed for water that comes in to drain out thru drains along side of the roof and exit under the vehicle. WTF !!!! Then the interior of drivers door panel. Would get a pimple appear if the windows are left up and heat builds up inside the vehicle.
