The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V668000 (seat belts, air bags) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact also stated that while braking at 35 mph, the rear driver and passenger side seat belts failed to tighten and restrain the occupants. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 900. VIN tool confirmed parts not available.

I received a safety recall notice in September 2016 but was told that nothing could be done because "repair parts not available." Now, 8 months later, parts are still "unavailable" and I am driving a vehicle whose airbag and/or seat belts may not work in an accident, causing myself and my passengers serious injury. How can this possibly be permitted?

Several months ago I received a recall notice on my vehicle which was made in 2014. Here it is 2017 and there still is no repair available. This is a safety recall. What is taking so long? recall S61/ NHTSA 16V-668. It should not take this long to correct a safety issue.

I called my dealership to have an unrelated issue looked at and was notified about the possible failure of my seat belts and air bags. I have not received any other notification about this matter. I was told the parts for the recall may not be available until June/July of this year. I will risk the safety of myself and my family, including a teen driver, if I continue to operate this car before the repair can be made.

I received a recall letter over 2 months ago and still there are no updates on when they will be fixing the problem. Why is an airbag and seatbelt issue taking so long to take care of. This is a safety issue.

There is no remedy to this recall and its rediculous. We are forced to drive a vehicle that is not safe. We cant even trade it in because the dealership wont take it. Also our bodily injury insurance for this Jeep is five times what it used to cost. We financed this Jeep, it is unbelieveable that we have to drive a vehicle that could potentionally hurt us worse if we were in a crash. Something needs to done immediately.

I never received a notice of this recall and I was going to trade my vehicle in and they told me that they cant give as much for it cause it had a recall so I feel that this is unsafe for my family and now I wont get what its worth so if I want to trade it in I will have negative equity which I think is unfair I shouldnt have to pay thousands of dollars more to get my car down to where I wont have negative equity they should be able to fix this problem but this has been this way since 9/16/2016
