Shortly after purchase of new 015 Jeep Patriot, water started to penetrate inside of car. Oming through front interior lamp. Took to dealership, found out clog in drain of sunroof. 'fixed' then appx 6 months later, sae leak started. Tried a diffrent dealership trying to actually get it fixed for good, they said it was 'fixed' but problem happened again. This continued for three yeas. Brought to 3-4 dealerships plus had 2 private techs looked at it. I contacted Chrysler Corp andthey 'assigned a case manager' to oversee repair but dealer stated that clog was found again, gave car back as 'fixed' but at delivery, water was still leaking out of interior lamp. Dealer said 'only residual and nothing he can do about it' I asked several times and suggested there should be a recall. This vehicle has been such trouble for th past three years. Water flows all down the dash and electrial components. If you google, you will see hundreds of Patriot owners have the same problem. The only 'fix' that dealership/'water specialists ' have ever performed is 'clearing clog drain of sunroof. I am not sure why it keeps clogging. The last dealer stated that it is general maintenance. I hve owned many cars wth sunroofs nd have never had to clear drain as general maintentance. This problem occurs if vehicle is statioery or in motion. It has occurred while driving on a majory highway causing great distraction.

...has there been a recall issued on the Jeep Patriot concerning the rear hatch allowing water into the rear latch causing the interior lights to remain on? my wife had this happen and the interior lights caused her problems with driving at night until the repair was made. My mechanic stated that he had to perform this fix on 5 Jeep within a month. I contacted Chrysler about this and the employee stated that they had several complaints about this as well...

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. On rainy days, water entered from the gasket into the rear center of the vehicle. The failure damaged the roof liner and interior lighting. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the leak was emitting from the antenna. The antenna was replaced. The failure recurred and it was diagnosed that the gasket was leaking. The gasket was repaired with a sealant, but the failure recurred. It was diagnosed again that the gasket was leaking and it was resealed. The failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

The second to the last day of hunting season my husband. And I went up above our house, about 15 miles, we were in light snow, and I could not get the throttle to engage caused us to slide back a little again tried to use throttle to go, my husband saw a wisp of smoke on passenger side, I immediately turned the engine off, my husband looks under where the smoke came from and the rack N pinion boot where on fire, I popped the hood, flames were to hot for him to open the hood. I walked down the road to safety, as my husband got out what he could of our belongings out and into the snow bank. And in that few minutes the flames were inside the cab and windows were exploding, next the tires and the paint etc.....the spare tire also blew from the back of the car. My husband left before the gas tank blew if it did we don't know. We had to walk 15 miles soaking wet. We are both disabled with neck and back injuries. This Jeep is our only vehicle. I would like to request an investigation. What worries us is that had someone been confined by wheel chair or children in a car seat this would have been a deadly accident.
