This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Jeep dealer.
Love my 2015 Jeep Patriot. My only problem is the brakes squeak when backing up.

My husband and I have been married for 58 years. We are 81 and 79 years of age. We have had many, many cars in our lifetime. Never have we been so disgusted with the Jeep Patriot (and we paid much too much). Ww have complained about the squeaking brakes from the day we purchased the vehicle, again and again, at least 5 times or more. Each time we are given some "lame" excuse. The dealership finally, after much complaining, offered to solve the problem by cleaning the brakes. We had this done about two weeks ago and the problem of the squeaking brakes is worse than ever and now it seems like their is a problem with making a turn, and the brakes seem to be "spongy".
We are at our wits end. It is causing us to HATE the Jeep. The dealership doesn't seem to be able to find a solution. they said that all Jeep Patriots brakes squeak and this is normal. We were not told of this before making the purchase. We should have been told. As it is we paid much more than we could afford because it is a Jeep. We will never buy another Jeep and will spread the word. We have talked to others with the same problem.

they should fix the problem or take the car back and make it a recall. brakes should not squeak at all unless there is a problem

Brakes squeak when in reverse. Took it to dealer as it wasn't a year old at the time. I was told there was nothing wrong with the brakes, it would stop with use, normal on a new vehicle for this to happen. My vehicle is now in its second year and they still squeak. Dealer said still nothing wrong. Now that the Jeep is over a year old brakes are not under warranty - how convenient.
I will take it in to someone outside of the dealer to have them fixed - the front started squeaking about a week ago. I really like my Jeep but come on now... there have been noises from under the vehicle since day one.
For what Jeep charges for their vehicles I would expect better

I couldn't wait to finally own a Jeep. This has been a bucket list car since my teens. Well I finally bought one. A brand new Jeep Patriot 2015, which was purchased in March of 2016 at Outten motors in Hamburg Pa. Let me just say that from the first or second month I heard a little squeal. Afterwards it has been downhill from there. We have changed brake pads, brake shoes, brought it to the dealership, brought it to my mechanic, and NOTHING but NOTHING stops the incessant squealing.
I take good care of my vehicles and from the looks of it, other than mileage as I drive for work long distances as an agency nurse, my car looks to be in mint condition. However, pulling out from my driving or a parking lot etc etc,, I want to duck my head down in shame. Embarrassing as hell to be driving a car that makes more noise than most chewed up clunkers with a ton on rust and bondo.
I am now in the market for a new vehicle, and I will tell you that like the others on this site complaining of this issue, not only did I pay wayyyyyyyy to much for this car, I will never purchase another JEEP again.
