Over the past month the throttle body control light, check engine light, and traction control light has come on when I go to accelerate. Just like others have reported, it comes on when I'm driving on the highway & just dies, you can't steer the car or anything. Or you go to accelerate and it dies & you almost get rear-ended. I cannot believe how many reports are on here similar to mine and there has been no recall although it looks like there was one for the 2016 Patriot. What will it take, someone dying? this is a huge safety issue when your car will just die while driving 65-70 mph & you can't steer or anything!

While I am driving, the car stops running., the engine cuts off. I have to put the car in park or neutral to restart the engine. Sometimes it will start up sometimes I have to wait on it to starts. Today it stopped in the middle of the street and it did not start back up..the car had to be pushed out the street. My Jeep will stop on the expressway while driving up to speed, it will stop on rural streets and while turning left or right it will shut down in the middle of the turn..this is extremely dangerous because it only shuts down when the car is in motion. This has been happening for 3 months.

As of 12/18/2018, my car has begun to die as I push on the accelerator after being at a complete stop at a stop light or stop sign, it even died out of no where, my husband was driving back home and thankfully there were no other cars behind him as he was passing the intersection when the car jerked and decided to turn of completely. He put it on park and started up like normal but no check engine light came on or anything. Ever since I got this car in February of 2016, take note that my Jeep only has 65000 miles and I have never had any problems with it until now. It is terrifying because each time it has happened, cars behind me were very close to rear ending my car. This is a big and scary issue for me because I have read on numerous websites that their Jeep Patriots have died on the highway... I have a 3 month old that I take back and forth to a baby sitter every weekday, and that is a huge safety issue for my daughter and for people driving around me as well. I have read on a numerous amounts of websites where other Jeep Patriot owners are having the exact same issue. I keep my oil changes up to date and I just changed my spark plugs. So I have no clue what the problem might be I have not taken it to have it checked because of what I have read I see that others have not had luck with taken it to a shop I would hate for this issue to cause somebody to rear end me on the streets or on the highway. Either being on the streets or the highway, it could cause serious damage and injury to me, my 3 month old daughter and to the people around me.hopefully they have a recall soon!

Picked it up on 12/5/18 from the dealership after having the cv axle replaced and all of a sudden or according to them "coincidence" my throttle body control has died. It was fine until they worked on it and I was on the way to take my car home and noticed the red lightning bolt light flashing off and on and the jerking and stalling happening, which did not do before they worked on it. Now, I can't get them to fix it without them wanting me to pay for it even though, I wasn't having this issue at all. This is a dangerous issue to have considering I drive down a major highway everyday to work and also take my child to school every day on my way to work. This will result in someone getting killed and the manufacturer and the dealerships need to be held accountable.

Since June 2018 I've experienced on going issues with the engine/transmission. While driving the entire front end starts to shake, all the lights on the dashboard come on and then the car stalls. I loose the ability to accelerate and steer during this time. First time this happened I was in Delaware on the highway, they replaced the throttle body. Since then the car skips during deceleration mostly when the gears shift in traffic, going on rotaries or attempting to come off /on ramp.. went to my usual mechanics ran codes ended up replacing sensor in the engine. The car again starts to skip and has ongoing issues accelerating. This is incredibly dangerous I've almost been in a couple accidents from when it decides it's time to accelerate, random engine shut off and inability to accelerate when it matters. I called Jeep apparently they are having lots of issues related to this.

April 2017, while driving on the freeway Jeep started to shake. Etc and engine light were lit up, car would not accelerate. Pulled over at nearest exit. Shut off car and tried to restart, car would not start. Dealership determined that throttle body needed to be replaced. August 2018, while waiting at stop light I started to make a right turn. Car was shaking and did not want to accelerate. Traction control and engine light turned on. Had to shut off vehicle and restart in the middle of a city street. Car restarted, the next day only engine light stayed on. While at stop light and foot on the break the engine shut off. All lights and radio stayed on. Restarted car, driving fine. Took it to dealership, they replaced the throttle body again (and wanted to do so at my expense). While attempting to return my car, it shut off on them. They returned it to me saying it had been fixed. Next day problem persisted and became more frequent. Took back to the dealership, they replaced sensor cam and sensor cra to my expense. Now my breaks are shaking. It's a three year old car. I'm the second owner. It shouldn't be having these types of problems. I'm not spending more money at the dealership. I'm selling the vehicle. I'll be sure to never purchase Jeep or any other Chrysler brands.

While the car is in motion and you start to press the gas pedal to accelerate it starts jolting and then slows down in mid traffic wherever you are while pressing on the gas. I got it looked at they said it was the throttle body, supposed it got fixed but I paid a lot of money and sometimes it still jolts. I realized that this was a bigger issue when my mom and my sister who each own a compass 2014 & 2015 and both of their vehicles have now produced the same exact problem all of us getting the same issue while almost being crashed in to on the highway and on a main road. Our cars are only 3-4 years old, I'm not sure why so much work is being done for the same situation in all the Jeep made vehicles. The throttle body is supposedly the issue in all three situations, maybe for whoever else owns one should know that they will soon get this problem if they havent. My car still had never been the same since getting it "fixed" by Jeep "professionals" at the dealership.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. While driving 45 mph on an incline, the electronic throttle control warning indicator illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to coast safely off of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to heritage Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram parkville (9219 harford rd, parkville, md 21234, (866) 492-8843) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Etc and engine light remains on when running. Light flashing on and off the vehicle stall and reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle and vehicle stall and have no speed and have pull over in traffic. The 2015 only have 3500 miles should not be having a safety issue I could have got run over by the incoming highway traffic.

On 5 occasions when driving the car around 70mph, the car starts to decelerate on its own with no indicators on the vehicle showing any issues. The vehicle will not accelerate over 55mph - you have to undertake an emergency move into an inside lane in order to be in a safe location and even when pressing the accelerator pedal it will not go over 55mph. After a few minutes the car will then start to accelerate again. On multiple occasions, it has almost created a S situation where the car has been hit from behind my vehicles behind due to the sudden deceleration. The vehicle has been take into the Jeep dealership and they have not been able to diagnose the issue with the vehicle or reproduce it.

While the vehicle was in motion, the car hesitated, lost speed, and then cut off (lost compression) while driving on the freeway. The engine indicator light never came on (beforehand) to alert that there was an engine problem. The passenger front tire loses air (constantly) and I've had to put air in the tire (since purchase date 3/13/15) every other week and the dealership keeps insisting there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

September 4th 2015 I purchased a brand new 2015 Jeep Patriot it only had 10 miles on the odometer Sep 5th the second day of driving the vehicle I noticed the vehicle had acceleration problems it took a few seconds longer to accelerate after I stopped the car at the light getting off the ramp from the freeway I figured it was just a coincidence since the car was brand new over the days of driving I noticed that it was steady taking delay time to pick up speed as I accelerated from stopping at lights & stop sign on the other hand I did notice the brake system was lousy I had to stop early ahead of time in order for my vehicle to slow down and even stopping early sometimes didn't work I had to swerve out of the lane just to prevent myself from hitting another vehicle..I brought my vehicle in two weeks later to get my brakes inspected the guy told me that I just need to slow down a lil bit earlier before you usual have to stop.did really make a difference brake system is still lousy as F*** and to add insult to injury on September 24 I went to get my vehicle washed at kellys car wash I drove to the car wash put my car in neutral had all the windows rolled up tight and doors locked as I proceeded through the carwash everything was going fine until it was time to rinse water started coming from my dome light pouring on down into my air conditioning system and water started leaking from the right side passenger above the windshield I instantly panic as the vehicle was getting done through the carwash I pulled over and called my insurance company to file a claim & then called the dealership they told me to come in I came in they said that there was nothing they can do for me I will have to set an appointment so I set an appointment now I'm just waiting for my appointment to come on September 30 it rained & now my car has water spots on the passenger side above the dashboard

On about January 15, 2015, less than 2 months after purchase and with less than 1500 miles, this vehicle accelerated out of control & I was unable to get it to respond by braking. The vehicle was brought to burdick Chrysler Jeep in cicero, NY where it was purchased & they were unable to properly diagnose/repair the vehicle & said there was nothing wrong with it.while traveling on Feb 5 I experienced an issue with the cruise control not 'staying' where it was set- continuing to accelerate, then instead about 1/2 way to our destination, I started to experience random issues such as attempting to accelerate and the vehicle behaving as if it was in neutral. I located the Jeep dealer closest to my destination, safford Chrysler Jeep in va, & dropped the vehicle off. Safford had the vehicle the entire day of Friday, 2/06/15, & was unable to properly diagnose/repair the vehicle- saying they could not find anything wrong with it. Upon releasing the vehicle back to us, having driven only approx.10 miles, my cousin had near-death experience in heavy traffic, the vehicle began again accelerating out of control & would not respond to normal braking while my cousin was driving. We contacted Jeep customer care by phone to report these issues the evening of Friday, 2/06. The Jeep is currently at safford Chrysler Jeep in springfield, va, having been towed there on Saturday, 2/07. We were told by safford that they found an error message of some sort indicating the gas and brake were engaged at the same time, which is in keeping with our report of the vehicle accelerating on it's own and not responding to braking, but they were unable to diagnose or repair the problem that day or the following day prior to our departure from Virginia.there has been a serious lack of response from to burdick Chrysler Jeep in cicero, NY, safford Chrysler Jeep in springfield, va, &Jeep customer care.
