problem #1

Apr 072019

Patriot Latitude 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

My vehicle began drive erratically, sudden lose of power, sputtering, shifting wrong, the ETC light would flash in the dash, sometimes the traction control light would flash as well. At one point the vehicle went into limp mode where it wouldn't go over 20 mph and the check engine light came. I had the check engine light checked and it came back as unkown. The mechanic recommended not driving it. Through some online research I learned that the throttle body is a common problem with Jeep Patriots so I replaced it and so far that has fixed the problem. The new throttle body with a lifetime warranty was $250 and I replaced it myself.

Update from Apr 12, 2019: The original throttle body had something break inside of it which could easily be heard knocking around.
