I was driving along with my son when suddenly he yelled Oh my God! The windshield just cracked! I looked over and it had exploded. A long crack with about 6 other cracks coming off it from the corner where it is attached to the car. There were no cars since it was late and nothing hit the windshield. It was hot out during the day and I had the AC on.

I have the cold weather package and auto start. I started my car from the warmth of my house this morning. Loaded up all my stuff and got in the car to drive to work and there it was - a 3-4 inch long crack from the bottom passenger side going almost straight up. The Renegade had been parked for about two weeks as I drove the 2016 Mustang GT around during the warm days. I switched vehicles back around last night because the warm days were over and that crack was not there. So it had to have happened over night and it was not driven anywhere except to switch the car's placement in the driveway. I am so flabbergasted by this! The guy from SAFELITE asked if I hade a defrost thing in the windshield by the wipers...I assume so, I have the cold weather package. OK...I admit, I don't have all the details and specs, yadda yadda...like shoes, I see what I like and buy it. But I do know that windshields are not supposed to crack out of nowhere...and then over $1,000 to replace! Holy cow! Also also plus and....I do believe there is a baby crack creeping up from the center of the windshield...its hard to tell because it is in the black area of the glass and right in front of that round navigation thingy. So I cant tell if it is glare, or shadow or what...but it is suspicious and is being closely monitored. Haven't fixed yet...might drop some super glue at the end just to keep it from spreading. I don't want to replace until after winter in case it happens again, and again...

Second windshield replaced in just over 6 months, this windshield cracks way to easy from very small chips

I really do believe there is a defect in this glass .... I had 1st one replaced with original manufacturer part

and like I said just over 6 months cracked from a pin hole sized chip ... I really believe this is a mnufactuer issue

I believe Jeep should issue a "Buyers Beware" or "Buyers Alert" clause with the sale of the 2015 Jeep Renegade and let the buyer determine if they still want to purchase this vehicle after "knowing" that if the windshield cracks, there is a HUGE waiting list for replacement and that the windshield can only be purchased through the "Jeep Dealership", no other glass company can order one. That sucks! My Jeep's inspection sticker had expired waiting on the replacement windshield and all I received in the form of a "status report" from the Jeep dealership was "we don't know when it will come in, could be weeks, could be months, we just don't know" Who wants to hear that, when you know at some point you will be pulled over by Highway Patrol for an expired vehicle inspection decal. I had to wait 2 months before the Jeep dealership received my replacement glass. What a total nightmare with all the waiting, and checking on the status only to be told repeatedly "We don't know when it's coming in". Lesson learned, I will never buy another new vehicle without finding out about the availability of its parts, expecially the "windshield".

The front windshield has a crack that all of a sudden appeared. I am unaware of anything hitting the windshield. I have noticed that this is an issue that other people have with this vehicle. It is a great small suv, but the windshield cracks suck.
