Hard shift between gears 2-3 mainly, possibly through gears 3-4. Also erratic shifting when going on slight inclines and declines through gears 2-4.

Heavy shifting in lower gears (into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in particular). Feels like I'm shifting a manual transmission, and doing a poor job of it.

TOOK OUR JEEP IN TO DEALERSHIP FOR 3RD TIME WITH SHIFTING ISSUES. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHIFT HARD, DRAG IN HIGHER GEARS AND SHIFT TOO QUICKLY IN LOWER GEARS. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SERVICE TECH TOLD US THAT CHRYSLER/JEEP WAS AWARE OF ISSUES BUT NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WAS TOLD TO PUSH GAS HARDER TO DOWN SHIFT (what and brake the speed limit?). HE ALSO TOLD US THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HAS HAD 3 OR 4 SOFTWARE UPDATES ALREADY. CALLED US TO PICK UP VEHICLE AND TOLD AGAIN....NOTHING WRONG-NOT EVEN THE 27 LOW VOLTAGE CODES THAT SHOWED UP WITHIN THE 13 DAYS OF THE LAST SERVICE CHECK.......WTH? NOT HAPPY AT ALL, IF I HAD KNOWN THIS, I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT A JEEP.

BOUGHT THIS (BATMAN vs SUPERMAN EDITION) VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN FEB 2016 WITH 7 MILE, STARTED NOTICING IT SHIFT HARD, CLUNKING SOUND WHEN SHIFTING FROM HIGHER TO LOWER GEARS, SEEMED TO BE RUNNING/IDLING ROUGH TOOK IN TO DEALER. SHIFTS WAY TO FAST FROM 1-2 AND DRAGS (WON'T DOWN SHIFT) IN HIGHER GEARS WHEN IT DOES WE FEEL IT SHIFT HARD. DEALERSHIP TOLD US THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO LEARN OUR DRIVING PATTERN. HAD UPDATE FOR POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. CONTINUED HAVING PROBLEMS.

I've taken back my Renegade 4 times to the dealer (I've bought it in Feb 2016) and they do updates and reset the computer so "it could learn" my driving. Well every time "it learns" it stills does a really bad shifting. Low gears are really bad. (from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3) it drags, jerks, stumps and it's never the same pattern, you never know how the transmission is going to act. Also when slowing down when it gets back to these gears it clunks and when it comes to a complete stop it hard locks it makes the head of every passenger nod. I just took it right now to the dealer as I was saying, and the service guy told me Jeep is aware of the issue and they are working on an update but honestly this is not a software problem, it's a transmission problem and it needs to be replaced to a different kind of transmission. They've had this problem with Cherokees since 2014 yet they keep using this faulty transmission. All I'm left to do is to file a lemon law since they won't be issuing a recall for a new (different model) transmission.
This applies to 2.4L 4-cyl. 9-speed Automatic only, manual transmission are fine. Lucky me I guess.

shudders at 40-55 mph and 60-70 mph, sluggish gear changing
I have a 2016 Renegade (75th Anniversary Edition) 3 months old purchased in March 2016 with 28 miles. After two weeks and 357 miles the 9 speed transmission started having problems alongside other issues. 20-35 and 60-70 mph the vehicle would shudder, become sluggish, hard shifting and engine had a rougher sound than normal. The car had been at the shop so many times I paid my first car payment while it was supposedly being repaired now that's crazy a brand new car. To make a horrible long story short it has had 3 transmission computer updates the problem has not been corrected and according to jeep this is how the vehicle operates. Now it has gotten worse due to running the air conditioner. Per Uconnect testing was not done on the radios before being release so users have to wait on an update to correct its problems. Currently I have filled a lemon law buy back. If you're seeking to get a Renegade please be aware!

NEW JEEP RENEGADE 2016, same problems I found after reading the problems sighted about the
2015. I've had this car for 5 days, this is my second of 4 complaints I am filing here. The Transmission is 9 speed for a smoother transition between gears, but its very rough between 1st & 2nd. Also in the higher gears 4th & 5th gears are JUMPY!
I wish I found all this info before buying this car... IF YOU ARE READING THIS DON"T BUY THIS CAR. MINE IS IN SERVICE WITH ONLY 879 MILES AND 5 DAYS OF OWNING IT... BEWARE ALL!!! For more info please read all 2015 complaints!!!

I purchased the Jeep lifetime warranty and the dealer is claiming that the tranmission garage that has always serviced the transmission used the wrong transmission fluid and would not cover the repair. I checked the Jeep website and this problem has been an issue with the Renegade. It seems rather odd that there was a possible software fix for this exact issue but it didn;t fix it and only 2nd gear is displaying the hard shift which is what is described in the TSB info. no other gear is having an issue and it would seem that if fluid was the issue, the entire transmission would have problems
