Purchased a new 2017 Jeep Renegade Altitude Package on Nov. 24, 2017. Within 10 days, on or about December 4th or 5th I began noticing a knocking sound when I would turn my vehicle off after driving. I notified the dealership and they had me come in on Dec. 8th the car was in for service . The dealership told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with it that it is characteristic of the brand and vehicle. Barbera Autoland Dealership said they all do it. So, I challenged them and asked to drive another one on their lot, their pick. My salesman took out another Renegade, same model and IT DID NOT SOUND LIKE MINE IN THE LEAST. I made sure to capture and audio recording of that Renegade as well to compare. (No comparison) I also notified the dealership of an acceleration issue as well that day and they told me it was probably my fault or the mat, which I knew was not the case and yet the service dept wrote they noticed a surge when the cooling fan engaged. Wait, what? The service dept wrote in black and white they noticed a surge but yet told me it had to be my fault or the service paper mat?
I signed to get my car back and wrote on the service records "UNDER PROTEST" signed my vehicle out, and called Chrysler. They said it is NOT characteristic of the brand and advised me to go get another diagnosis at a different service center. So I did.
Dec. 14, 2017 I went to a different dealership for a diagnosis. They told me that there was an issue and update for the catalytic converter so that it would cool down easier. They performed a flash update and the sound seemed to disappear, at least I didn't notice it.
Dec. 19, 2017 I now hear the knocking/ rattling noise while simply idling and the distinct knocking / ticking sound again when I turn the vehicle off. I also felt a delay in acceleration last night and again today when pulling out.
This is not characteristic of a new Jeep every time the vehicle is turned off. I have owned Jeeps for 35 years. Started with a Cherokee in the early 80's then went to Wranglers in 1987 and bought another Wrangler in 2001. All of my Jeeps in all of those years never had this kind of BS from the gate. I wish I was able to post multiple audio clips to this site, because the knocking sound audio on my second clip is clearer.
It does not matter if I've driven with the heat on or off. Or even if I drive less than a mile or more than 10.
I have also noticed a delay in acceleration when first pulling out... and to put the icing on the cake, this morning I noticed my rear camera display has a distortion about 1 inch high across the bottom of whole screen.
It will be going back in for service tomorrow Dec. 20, 2017 for the 3rd time since the 8th of December. Definitely not a great start to a brand new vehicle. I love the BRAND but this vehicle has problems.

I have a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The engine needs to be completely replaced due to faulty manufactured engine. It would randomly turn off or stall, or sometimes engine kept turning and wouldn’t start. The bearings broke off inside the engine and now JEEP is trying NOT to cover it and I can’t get any help after speaking to 7 different Case Managers. There has been zero help from them in regards to their liability in this. There is already a class action lawsuit filed, in 2020. It is sad that they are handling clients this way. I was very nice and I work in customer service so I understand what is possible etc.
The Jeep mechanic locally, called on my case to verify and tell them that my engine needs to be replaced as a direct correlation of the recalled parts and that they were on back order for months. During those months I tried to have recalled parts replaced and couldn’t because the parts are on back order.
During this time my warranty became invalid, because I exceeded 60,000 miles. I’m currently at 62,000 miles. At the time I attempted to have recalls fixed I was under 60,000 miles. Secondly, the warranty expires in 2022. Regardless, the recalls caused the engine needing to be replaced. Please advise what my options are to ensure I don’t have to pay to replace the whole engine.
