forward collision warning malfunction

On 7/18/2021 we were headed off to vacation and were in stop and go traffic in a fairly congested part of town. All of the sudden the dash flashed and beeped. "SERVICE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING" - We went on vacation and parked the vehicle the entire time we were there. Once we got home we took it into the dealership on 7/26/2021 shop to have it looked over.

We went to pick the vehicle back up because they said they ordered the part and it was "Safe to drive". They informed us they took off the whole front end and could not find any damage at all. [We will get into that on another post.] There is no ETA on the part coming in to have it replaced but ever since we got it back we noticed that occasionally the car would lurch forward either before you stop, or after coming out of a dead stop.

forward collision warning malfunction

Service Forward Collision Warning message flashed on dash on the second day of ownership. I was cut off by another vehicle, triggering the FCW system to throw an error and disable itself. Dealership indicates that one or more of the cameras/sensors is unable to calibrate and needs replacement. It's unclear if problem lies with windshield-mounted camera or bumper-mounted sensor.

Update from Nov 30, 2021: Four months later, the forward-facing camera arrived and was installed but failed to correct the problem. I've been advised that the factory neglected to install a metal stabilizing bracket for the bumper-mounted distance sensor.
