Fuel fill spits out fuel every time I fill the tank. It is a dangerous situation due to the volatility of gas.

When filling gas tank, gasoline spews from the filler neck prior to the automatic shut-off on the pump engaging. This has been an issue with this particular vehicle since 2008.

When filling the gas tank the pump will not automatically shut off and there is a huge spray of gasoline out of the tank. This happens almost every time, you are forced to listen to the sound of the gas and judge when it is about to spill out in order to prevent it. (note: I no longer own this vehicle, but I am documenting it here since I have heard that it is a common problem.)

When fueling the vehicle, gasoline overflows and spews out of the gas tank opening. This happens each time the vehicle is fueled and occurs as the tank reaches full. This is an extremely dangerous and unhealthy situation which needs to be addressed by the vehicle manufacturer. I was shocked to find this is a known and widely reported issue, but not yet resolved by Chrysler.

After filling the fuel tank, the gas pump stops but the gas comes gushing out of the filler tube. This has now happened every time I have filled up my Jeep since the first time it happened in Jan 2011.

The fuel always spews out of the tank when allowing the automatic shutoff of the gas pump. It happens with every gas station I use. I would estimate about 1 to 2 cups of fuel spill out and onto the ground each time I fill up. I have been informed this is an issue that involves a faulty valve in the Wrangler gas tank. Jeep needs to take ownership of this issue.

When refueling a significant quantity (estimated at 8 ounces or more) of gasoline is "spit back" or discharged from the fuel filler opening as the tank reaches full. This discharge produces a puddle of gasoline at least 24" in diameter and leaves the exterior and underside of the fender dripping with gasoline and depending on the filler hose configuration may soak the clothing of the person operating the pump. This event occurs every time the vehicle is refueled unless care is taken to stop adding fuel before the tank reaches full capacity. Clearly this creates a very dangerous, environmentally hazardous and potentially life threatening situation!!

When I try to fill my tank using the autofill option on the fuel pump handle, the fuel doesn't shut off when the tank is full and will come splashing out in force. My solution thus far is to be aware of the gallon amount as I fuel the vehicle, then when it gets fairly close, I try to trickle the fuel in so as not to splash too much fuel out on to the ground or my pants and shoes.

When filling the fuel tank with gas, the gas pump does not shut off when the tank is full. This causes overflow of gas from the tank. An internet search indicates that this is a common issue with Jeep Wrangler.

When filling the gas tank, the shutoff valve to prevent fuel overflow does not appear to work properly and the result is that fuel overflows from the filler neck and runs all over the vehicle and ground. This happens every time it's filled up regardless of how quickly or slowly I regulate the flow of fuel into the tank.
