When filling up the 2005 Jeep Wrangler rubicon with gasoline, the tank overflows at the filling point every time, before the pump shuts off. It happens at every station, every time. It is not operator error.

Just purchased this used Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon about 2 1/2 months ago and everytime I fill the gas tank, fuel pukes back out the filler opening and runs down the side all over the ground before the gas pump can shut off. Seems really dangerous not to mention making a big, embarrassing mess. It does not matter where I refuel, happens at all gas stations.

I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited (lj) that I purchased in March of this year. From day 1, like many others, when I fill the vehicle's fuel tank, the pump will not shut off, causing fuel to spray / spill out and run down the body onto the ground. When filling gas in NJ the gas almost always spits out before the tank is full. Since this is NJ, by law this has full service, so these are professionals that are filling the gas, not me. This is a very dangerous problem that needs to be addressed.

While fueling my Jeep, fuel came spewing from the filler neck before the pump shut off. This caused approximately 1/8 gallon of fuel to spill on my vehicle and myself. While driving after this incident I had to pull over and get out of my vehicle as I was becoming disoriented from exposure to the fuel/fuel vapors that spilled on me. Luckily I was able to realize quickly that my level of alertness was deteriorating and was able to pull over, roll down my windows, and allow the fumes to dissipate. I feel that this is a very big safety concern that could cause a serious accident if not addressed and fixed quickly.

Every time when fueling the car, the gas tank overflows. The shut off valve is faulty. The Jeep boards have many documented incidents of this occurring. The car is a 2005 but only has 20,000 miles on it. There are recalls for 2007 and newer but nothing for my car which is a 2005. The response from Jeep is it is the fault of the gas. Ethanol causes the shut off valve to expand. From my perspective it's faulty engineering.

My 2005 Jeep unlimited rubicon (tj) has overflowed fuel for years. The fuel pump continues to flow until fuel has overflowed the tank and fuel pours onto the ground. Chrysler has covered this under warranty for other year Jeep Wrangler. My year is not covered and the repair is over $900. I was told this is just a malfunction of a valve in the fuel filler pipe. And is caused from a poor design.

When refueling, once the fuel tank is full the service station fuel supply hose nozzle clicks off, then a surge of fuel expels from the Jeep fuel tank fill port splashing onto the vehicle exterior, onto myself, and onto the ground. This is a serious fire hazard. It appears to be a common problem with the Jeep Wrangler across many years, with no resolution to date.

Death wobble!!!! started about Dec 2011 around speeds of 55-60 mph. Car will suddenly start to violently shake. When viewing from behind in another car it appears as if the wheels may come off. I have replaced the shocks, struts, stabilizer bar, track bar, springs, spacers, calipers, hubs, new tires, balance and rotate tire every 5000-6000 miles, new front brakes, new back brakes, two rear alignments, 3 front alignments, and rotors, I death wobble has gone from bad to dangerously worse. My Wrangler is a factory right hand drive Jeep that I use to deliver mail. I was using as my primary car as well. I must drive 25 miles to work via interstate and then another 65 miles on my route. The car consistently shakes when I hit speeds of 45 mph or higher. A bump in the road will trigger the wobble as well. I spoke to two different Jeep dealerships today and was told that there is no solution to my problem. I have been to at least 6 different mechanic shops, one off road shop, and two different alignment shops. I was told that I could try replacing the gear box ($899.99) and also try replacing my rims! if the maker of my vehicle has no idea on what or how to fix it........then who will? I would like to resolve my death wobble. I am extremely annoyed! I no longer feel safe driving my car to and from work and when it rains I am a nervous wreck just knowing I will have to drive my Jeep on the interstate. Sadly its gotten to the point that I will not allow any of my kids in this vehicle. I end up having to leave my Jeep at work in another town if my husband isn't able to drive it to and from work for me. I am willing to fix the problem.......if Jeep would just let me know what that is!!!! in good conscious I could never sell and stick someone else with this problem/headache!! also, when I fill my Jeep up with gas, it overflows splashing gas everywhere!

I had my fuel tank replaced by Jeep a little over 2 years ago for the "roll over valve" problem - faulty fuel tank design that Jeep refuses to acknowledge that its a common problem. As well as a safety and environmental hazard -- every time the gas pump clicks off, fuel violently shoots all over the paint, ground, and my person. The replacement tank has started doing this again after maybe 20,000 miles! Jeep replaced a faulty, hazardous part with another. This is an outrage that every time I go to the gas station I have to worry about fuel shooting all over the place, its embarrassing as well. I made an NHTSA complaint the first time but I am making another since the replacement part is doing the exact same thing!

Every time since purchasing my Jeep on Nov 26th 2013 when filling the fuel tank as it clicks off fuel spits out of the filler neck and on to the body and on the ground. Even when manually filling it spits fuel out before you can release the nozzle. If you are standing in the wrong position it lands on your clothes and shoes. This creates a safety risk of fire as well as the environmental damage.

I traced a loud screeching noise to the oil pump drive assembly. As the engine warmed up the noise subsided but continues to occur.on line research shows this to be a common problem for the 05-06 Wrangler due to a design change from 04 to 05 model years where a bushing at the top of the cam position sensor/oil pump drive that seizes due to lack of lubrication and causes the drive gear on the oil pump shaft to self destruct taking with it the camshaft drive gear which causes loss of oil pressure.Dodge issued the E05 Mar 2005 campaign-engine oil pump drive gear/cam replacement. Letters were sent to dealers to replace the drive gears and cams damaged by this problem. The notification applies to the 4.0 L engine built from Oct 20, 2004 to Feb 1, 2005. My local Dodge dealer informed me that my Jeep has an Oct 9, 2004 build date and is therefore not eligible for the recall even though the pictures I showed him of the damage to the gears in my engine. The dealer suggested I try customer service. They referred me to NHTSA to seek a resolution. So after investing over $12,000 dollars a month ago to purchase what I expected would be a reliable winter vehicle I instead have a vehicle that sits in my driveway because we are afraid to drive it. It can't be trusted on the road and I can't risk using it and facing a $4,000 engine rebuild if it seizes. I need some help.

This has been a recurring problem cited by many other Jeep owners (as Chrysler must be aware). This malfunction is dangerous, wasteful, and environmentally damaging. Please live up to the reputation that Jeep owners appreciate and respect regarding our Jeep. Quality and reliability are important to us--or we would not buy Jeep vehicles. Devoted Jeep owners shouldn't have to beg for assistance to rectify a design flaw.
