Fuel overflows every fillup.

When I fill up my 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited it spits gas all over, alot of it. This is a safety hazard! its horrible for the environment too. Jeep wont recall the problem. They are ignoring the problem. Help us out, please. Thx

Sprays gas out the filler neck when the tank gets full and the auto shut off on the gas nozzle activates. This happens every time I fill it up. This problem started a long time ago so I just estimated it started at 40,000 miles. I now have 70,000 miles on the vehicle.

I own a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. I purchased the Jeep new. For about 8-12 months now when I am pumping my gas the gas overflows instead of shutting off when the tank is full. I have to try to guess when the tank is almost full and stop pumping so the gas does not spill out all over me. I have had it pour all over my legs and shoes.

2005 Jeep tj while filling does not click the pump off and therefore leaks and spills out all over the road causing an epa nightmare. Happens all the time when filling up. There is a known problem with Jeep doing this but the government pays no attention. Maybe the epa is too busy worrying about something else other than fuel spillage and seepage into water supplies...?

When filling up the vehicle's fuel tank, an air pocket is trapped at the top of the tank. When the tank becomes full, this air pocket rushes towards the neck and out towards the person filling up the vehicle. Each time this occurs, fuel spews onto the side of the vehicle and sometimes sprays outward onto the pump handle and me. This is dangerous not only for the environment, but for me filling up the vehicle because it has the potential to get into my eyes/face when the fuel and air bubble rush out. I took the vehicle in to the local Jeep dealership and another reputable mechanic, and both said they could put a new tank on, but that may not fix the problem because the tanks on the Wrangler have a manufacturing defect that causes this problem. All sensors and vents on my tank are working properly. When the fuel tank becomes full, the pump is shut off as it is supposed to, but about half a second afterwards is when the air and fuel spew out. I am not letting the vehicle run while filling up, nor am I trying to top the tank off. This is a defect in the fuel tank of this vehicle and this problem needs to be addressed by Jeep. I just purchased the vehicle, and this happens whenever I fill up. I do not know if this happened to the previous owners or not, there are multiple forums on the internet that state that there are a large number of Wrangler owners that are having this problem.

Every time I fill the gas tank of my Jeep fuel spits back. The dealer said it was normal, I do not believe this should happen. I recently read on line about many Jeep doing the same thing. This has been happening for about one year. I purchased the vehicle new. It has never been in an accident, and is well maintained.

When filling up at any gas station, the gas tank overflows about 90% of the time. Gas runs down the quarter panel and on the fender flare. It will splash on me if I am standing next to the pump.

2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited overflows fuel every time at the pump. Does not matter if I hold it, or if it is on automatic hold. Always overflows. Sometimes sprays out of the holes on the vapor lock. Dealer wants to charge me $1200 to replace fuel tank. Chrysler tsb on 2007-08, but not other years. Please investigate the totality of this problem.

Every time I attempt to fill the gas tank on my 2005 Jeep Wrangler X fuel overflows at the point at which it should automatically shut off. On some occasions its a small amount, other times, its sprays out forcefully and gets all over me, my Jeep, the ground, and anything else in the immediate area. It does not matter which gas station I fill up at, it happens everywhere. My only solution is to attempt to calculate how much I can put in manually without totally filling it up. Lots of guesswork involved, sometimes unsuccessfully. I see spraying a flammable liquid around in an unintended manner as a safety hazard. So far, Jeep does not see it the same way....
