The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. While traveling at speeds of 50 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. The vehicle was not diagnosed and there were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 36,000. Updated 07/26/10. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle began shaking when brakes were applied, more violently the faster the vehicle was going. I had this checked at a brake shop first, where they said the pads were fine, but the rotor was warped. I then took it to the tire shop to have the tires rotated and balanced, although this was also just done a few months prior. I was instructed to take it to the dealer since the vehicle has only 23000 miles on it. Not only did my dealer not warranty the problem, they wanted to put a "make it new kit" on for $355, perform differential service $121, drain and refill rear differential fluid $121, and rotate and balance tires (because they listened to nothing I told them) for $49.95 for a grand total of $671.90. When I told him I would take it elsewhere, I was charged for the estimate $24.95. I was also told by my service advisor that he or his manager saw no reports on this web site. Hmmmm....mine is the 6th such case on here. I just wonder how many there are that have not been reported? this is my fourth Wrangler and I've never been treated so rudely in my life. It's a shame the Chrysler Jeep Wrangler cannot stand up to the true american Jeep, because they've gone to using cheap faulty parts!!! updated 04/23/08.

My rotors in my '06 Wrangler went bad at 9500 miles, shaking violently when stopping. They were replaced, but now at 20K the same thing is occurring! I was told Chrysler will turn them for free but will not replace them again. They never replaced the original pads either. I am very upset to see such a trend of complaints with the rotors and the company still continues to use cheap, defective parts. The mechanic the first time told me this is common and Chrysler does not care once you bought the vehicle. Things replaced so far, and these were under 10kmiles; steering stabilizer/rotors/slave cylinder in clutch($700 job)/not delivered with tinted rear windows/hesitation and stalling at a red lights/strap broke off rivet in soft top. Clutch still making the noise that was diagnosed as slave cylinder (its the throttle bearing da!!!)

While driving @ 55-60 mph and applying the brakes my 2006 Jeep Wrangler shakes like it is going to fall apart. It has less than 12000 miles on it and this is the 2nd pair of rotors within a short period of time, around 3 months. Now I'm told by the service department that its my driving style, that I should down shift to make it easier on the brakes. Which I already do down shift. The repair was taken care of free of charge because of the short period of time between the rotor changes. But, that the next time I will have to pay for it!! let me tell you that I'm pissed!!! this is bull &*$# and I'm not going to be pushed over and told its the way I drive, when its apparent that there is something else causing the problem. Funny, I don't need brake pads but the rotors keep $%&in' up...a defect or what. Excuse my language but, I'm a 43 year old woman that doesn't want to be jerked around by my service dept. And told its my driving style! I want something done about it. I only lease this vehicle and if I could give it back today...I would!!! I also intend to E-mail Chrysler about this also. Rotors have been replaced twice in a brand new vehicle, once at 6K miles and again at 11K miles, because of excessive vibrations/shaking/pulsating in the steering wheel when applying the brakes at speeds of 50 - 55 mph. Problem continues to reoccur and rotors need to be replaced a third time. Vehicle now has 15K miles.

Between the speed 50 and 60 mph when the brakes are used the whole front end of the car shakes violently. I have had 2 new sets of rotors put on the car and the rotors re-cut twice, but the problem still exists.
