During refueling, as the tank is almost full, gasoline splashes out (or erupts) from the filler opening just after the gas pump nozzle shuts off. This has been increasingly happening since the initial incident. It has happened in many different gas stations, in many different states. Current mileage on the vehicle is 52217. During the first year or so, the amount of fuel that splashed back out of the tank depended on the gasoline flow rate and sensitivity of the pump nozzle shut-off mechanism. Sometimes the sound of gasoline starting to back up in the filler neck is used to shut-off the pump nozzle before the gasoline splashes out, but often it is too noisy around gas stations to hear it and/or the gasoline is flowing too fast to turn it off in time. In the last year, however, fuel has been splashing out just about every time the tank is refueled. It splashes out on the fender panel under the filler opening, onto the undercarriage, and on the ground. This creates a hazardous, messy, and wasteful spill of gasoline. This is particularly a big problem in states such as or that do not let the vehicle owner pump their own gas.

When filling the gas tank a significant amount of gas spills out simultaneous with the first shut-off of the gasoline pump. Multiple different pumps at multiple different gas stations of multiple different brands do it consistently -- I can no longer rember the last time this did not happen. Manually slowing the delivery rate down to 1% of the normal delivery rate as the tank approaches full can reduce, but only sometimes eliminate the condition. I believe this is an environmental hazard due to the spilled gas. I believe this is a fire risk, as well as a risk to personal property from the splashing gas. I'm told that this is due to a bad valve in the fuel tank that was designed to stop this condition, but that valve sticks. My vehicle has never had any gas over 10% ethanol (unless some gas stations.. well, you know), and certainly not often (unless, of course, gas stations lie a lot).

When fueling up, many times the fuel pump will shut off and the fuel will spill out of the filler neck. I've tried slowing down the flow of fuel just prior to a full tank with no change. It happens a lot, but not every time. I've tried angling my vehicle with the filler neck down hill and up but it randomly spills fuel. I've tried waiting once coming to a stop prior to turning off the engine with no rhyme or reason to when it will spill fuel.

When filling my gas tank at any gas station, the gas spills (or actually shoots out) out. This is a serious safety and environmental issue. I just took it to the shop after getting gas all over me. I spent $100 on diagnostics. I have heard that this is a known problem and Jeep/Chrysler is too cheap to cover it by recall. I've heard of a group that is talking to tort attorneys so I will look into that next.

This started in October 2011 with my 2006 Jeep Wrangler. When I put gas in the tank, as soon as its full and the pump shuts off, gas bursts out of the tank all over the Jeep, the ground, everywhere. This is certainly a safety issue, along with an environmental issue! I'm hearing about so many Jeep that are doing this. Why is there no recall? I'm having it looked at by my local Jeep dealer, but so far they said Chrysler is aware of this but has "no fix" on this situation.

Every fuel fill up the gas burps back up the fill hose and all over the side of the Jeep and onto the ground. It will do this even when filling as slow as possible. This is not only annoying but of course wastes gas and creates a fire hazard and environmental contamination. Several other Jeep owners around here say their Wrangler do the same thing.

Fuel spray/overflow when refueling. This could be very dangerous! when refueling, there was significant blowback or a very heavy mist which saturated my shirt and pants with gas. Whenever I add gasoline (from any station), a considerable amount of fuel will slosh back out of the filler right before the pump kicks off. Checking with the dealer and other sources, it's a known problem. However, Jeep is only concerned with fixing the 2007 and newer jk models. Their fix for those models is an extension of the warranty. My other sources say that it's rampant in years prior as well. The dealer service manager says it's the "rollover valve" that goes bad. The valve isn't repairable. The entire fuel tank needs replaced.

When filling the gas tank every time the fuel sprays out of the filler nozzle before the pump can auto shutoff. Every time - this causes gas to leak down the side of the vehicle, on me before I learned to get out of the way and all over the ground. The only way to stop this from happening is to not fill up all the way with gas. Otherwise it does this every single fill up.

All of the sudden my Jeep started taking for ever to fill and shoots gas out all over me and the ground... I have to stand a there and barely let the gas trickle into the tank and I cannot even set it on the lowest lever for handle it takes me about 20 min to put $40 dollars worth of gas in it, ,,, the dealer said there is no recall for this and was not covered under the emissions warranty... they also told me to check fuel filler pipe for obstructions and to pull our my vapor canister and clean it.... I did both and it didn't fix a thing..im also understanding that there are hundreds of people having this problem..... I worked for Chrysler dealerships for years and really don't understand why they wont take any actions.... I bought this Jeep brand new from where I was working at... it was my dream vehicle... now im not so sure...

When adding fuel to the 2006 Jeep Wrangler either with an automatic shut off pump or by hand the fuel over sprays out of the nozzle hole when the tank becomes full. This happens at any speed you add fuel spilling gas all over the side of the vehicle, on the person adding the fuel, and all over the ground at the gas station. This most likely is caused but vacuum pressure not being released correctly by the fuel inlet hose and would be a design and manufacture flaw.

Every time you fill the vehicle up with gas, gas comes pouring out of the filler opening. This happens on all types of gas pumps. Something is wrong with the tank of venting system because the pumps never automatically shut off when the tank is full. Gas spills all over the side of the car. Many other Jeep owners have this same problem.

Gas tank over flow every time I fill my Wrangler unlimited with gas. Jeep says only 07 and 08 are recalled not 06.they don't think a quart of gas all over the Jeep and the ground, hello, is a problem, wow unreal. Maybe E.P.a should care. Apparently all 05 an 06 Wrangler were not recalled outrageous!!! Jeep and the E.P.a should care a lot more about our environment!! its disgusting and something has to be done about it. Ps I bought my Jeep used previous owner never told me about the problem but from what I read all do the same.
