Gas still out when filling up gas tank. The system doesn't stop at gas pumps all other cars ever driven. Gas always stills out before it stops the pump. This occurs at all pumps and appears to be a common and ongoing issue with Jeep owners.

The auto shut-off feature of the fuel system does not work. When I fill up the gas tank, fuel will spray / spill out. The first occurrence that I experienced was around 40K miles. I brought it to the dealership (as it was still under warranty). They advised me that they could find nothing wrong. At that point, it was occurring intermittently. At some point shortly after the warranty expired, the auto shut-off feature of the fuel system failed completely. Now, every time that I fill up the gas tank, fuel will spray / spill out. This issue continues to this day. This is a safety issue (fuel spilled on the vehicle, on the operator and on the ground) and an environmental issue (fuel spilled on the ground), not to mention the economic issue of paying for wasted gasoline at about $4 per gallon. Based upon the number of reported issues with this, I can't believe that there has not been a recall to remediate this problem. There is definitely something faulty with the design and/or manufacture of the parts used in the 2006 Jeep Wrangler. This is not something that someone should have to deal with in a vehicle that they purchased when new and have impeccably maintained.

The gas always over fills and spills out when your filling it up. This happens everytime I fill up the gas. It does not matter what station I am at or what the weather is like. This has been happening ever since I bought the Jeep. Everyone I know that owns a Jeep has the same problem occurring. This is a major fire hazard and also not what I want to happen when gas is almost $4 a gallon.

2006 lj "unlimited" Jeep Wrangler fuel overflows from filler nozzle when filling up. Happens when pump nozzle cuts off when tank is full. Happens every time. Spews gas out of nozzle onto ground and down the side of the Jeep.

When filling gas tank, pump nozzle will not shut off automatically. Consistent problem at every gas station, resulting in gasoline spilling out onto side of vehicle and onto ground before nozzle shuts off. Jeep has only 8,500 miles on it.

The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.

When filling up the tank on my 2006 rubicon unlimited, fuel will overflow without warning. It does this every time I fill up. If I do not stop it in time, fuel will overflow out with enough force that it will cover the side of the Jeep and who ever is filling it up. My 2007 Jeep Wrangler rubicon unlimited did the same thing and Chrysler recalled it and replaced the tank and I have had no issues since.

When filling my completely stock Jeep Wrangler, fuel shoots out of the filler, even with the nozzle clicking off. It does it every single time I fill it up. I previously owned a 2005 Jeep Wrangler X and it did it on that one as well. If I don't remember it does this I end up wearing gas all over myself, not to mention it shoots out so violently it has almost splashed the cars on the other side of the gas pumps.

Fuel overflow - fuel always overflows at the completion of refueling. Regardless of how nozzle is inserted once the tank is full, fuel will overflow presenting a safety hazard, harming the environment, and damaging the vehicle.

At 20,000 miles on the Jeep any time that we fill the gas tank, at any station, it spills out 1/2 to 1 cup of fuel and sprays all over the place. This is unsafe for us personally and the environment. It doesn't make a difference if the pump is going fast or slow it spits constantly and then spills out at the end. We never top off. The Jeep currently only has 22,000 miles on it.

Every time we fill up the fuel tank the fuel spills over and runs down the side of the vehicle causing a stain on the paint we have now resorted to listening to the fuel as it fills in an attempt to stop it and that only works once in a while we have put the pump on slow but this does no good either I have read many Jeep forums and this is a common problem not only does it waste fuel but it is an air pollution issue and a fire safety hazard most of the forums say the fuel tank needs to be replaced due to a sticking valve but that is very expensive (this is what some have had to do to fix the problem) also I own two Jeep Grand Cherokee and have never had this problem with either of them so I was surprised when this happened on the Wrangler as it was the most recent purchase if it is a defect in design I think Chrysler should fix it at no charge to the consumer before someone is hurt.
