Wrangler X 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

Chrysler will NOT cover the engine repair under the lifetime powertrain warranty blaming it on poor maintenance without even looking inside the engine. Their warranty manual does not mention that the oil has to be changed by licensed mechanics and often I do it myself which leaves me without receipts of an oil change. I will be taking them to small claims court.

This Jeep Wrangler Sahara was the car of my dreams...enough room for all the softball gear, but sporty enough for my still-young age. It has been nothing but one nightmare problem after another. It spent two months in the garage having the CPU, all 4 catalytic converters, and the coil pack replaced. It took that long just to get Chrysler to pony up, and I still ended up paying over $1200 for warranty work!

The engine is the latest in the never-ending saga. I'm supposed to have a lifetime power train warranty. We had a oil consumption test when it was new. The dealership was sold. Guess what? No records. Now Chrysler expects me to produce receipts for all the oil changes we did ourselves. Who keeps every receipt? The oil shows no sludge, there are no metal shavings, no signs of abuse. But until Chrysler puts on their big girl panties on and accepts responsibility for their crappy product, I'm screwed. This is the first, and last Chrysler product I will ever own.

Wrangler X 3.8L

Bought the car used with 39,000 miles. Around 50,000 started hearing the noise. Everyone wanted to replace the motor for $5000.00 but I had my brother look at it and after 3 hours of hunting found slack in the timing chain. Chrysler wouldn't do anything because it was out of warranty.
